In most big cities commuters waste half of their lives being stuck in traffic. The honking not only causes noise pollution but the traffic noise also harms health.

According to a new study, traffic noise can lead to hypertension and high blood pressure.

Researchers from the American College of Cardiology studied more than 2,40,000 people aged 40 to 69 who did not have blood pressure problems. They were obversed for 8 years and it was found that due to traffic noise, more than 21,000 people had started dealing with high blood pressure.

Researchers also found that the more people are exposed to traffic noise and air pollution higher is the risk of high blood pressure.
