What is Russian manicure and why is it dangerous? Know all about it

Russian manicure, also known as E-file manicure or dry manicure, has gained popularity in the beauty industry as an alternative to traditional manicures. This technique originated in Russia and has become trendy in various parts of the world due to its ability to create cleaner, more precise nail shapes and cuticle work. However, there are concerns about the safety of this method when not performed correctly.

What is Russian Manicure?

Russian manicure is a nail care technique that focuses on using an electric file (E-file) instead of scissors or nippers to shape the nails and remove cuticles. Unlike traditional manicures, where cuticles are often pushed back or cut using tools, Russian manicure involves gentle filing, which is believed to create a more natural and neat appearance. Additionally, it is thought to be less damaging to the nails than the traditional methods.

However, experts said that the electric file used in Russian manicures can be damaging if not handled correctly. Over-filing can weaken the nails, making them vulnerable to breakage and other issues and thus this manicure is being termed dangerous.
