Unisex hijab? This fashion innovation has left people scratching their heads

The fashion industry is always busy conjuring new and, sometimes, whacky trends to entice shoppers.

But this innovation from Italian fashion brand United Colours of Benetton has left netizens scratching their heads. UCB has launched a unisex line of the traditional Islamic headwear hijab in partnership with rapper Ghali Amdouni.

Available in shades of black, yellow, red and green, the Tunisian-born rapper said, 'the hijab is a unique garment that he wanted very much.'

However, people on social media are not pleased. From 'bank robbers and hijackers can now have designer wear' to 'an example of how so-called inclusion erases women's sex-based oppression,' reactions to UCB's unisex hijab are not great, to say the least.
