Although the formulation of mascara varies among manufacturers, a common thread involves the combination of an oil-soluble phase and a water-soluble phase.

While making the oil phase, a technician mixes four distinct types of wax. Then, Vitamin E liquid is added to improve the mascara's consistency. Furthermore, a chemical compound called Pelemol D-2000 is added to make it water-resistant.
