Miss World Pageant returns to India after 28 years; know who is representing India

Fashion lovers! Brace yourself for the upcoming 71st Miss World pageant which is set to be hosted in India after 28 years.

The month-long event is themed “Beauty with a Purpose” will kick off in New Delhi on February 19 and conclude in Mumbai on March 9, 2024.

The organisers announced the big news through a post on X which said: "Chairman of Miss World, Julia Morley CBE stated 'Excitement fills the air as we proudly announce India as the host country for Miss World. A celebration of beauty, diversity, and empowerment awaits. Get ready for a spectacular journey!'"

The upcoming event will welcome participants from 120 nations around the world, and Sini Shetty, Miss India World 2022, will proudly carry the Indian flag on the International stage.

Who is Sini Shetty?

Shetty, who is from Karnataka has a background in Finance and Accounting. She is skilled in Bharatnatyam and has many followers on social media. She has also won the title of Miss India Karnataka.

The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) initiates the celebrations with 'The Opening Ceremony' and 'India Welcomes the World Gala' at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi on February 20. The pinnacle, the 71st Miss World Global Finale, takes place on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

Competitions at the Miss World pageant include the World Top Designer Award, Miss World Top Model, Miss World Sports Challenge, Miss World Talent Final, Multi-Media Challenge, and Head To Head Challenge Final. The Continental Beauty With A Purpose Challenge and the grand Miss World Red Carpet Special will add glamour to this extraordinary event.
