Another day, another TikTok trend: Can micellar water help you get rid of oily hair?

From mixing the foundation in water to viral tie-dye hack, these social media platforms surely taught us a few things when we were not expecting them. Now, TikTok is making us rethink our shampoo ritual and looks like, we were doing it all wrong.

A viral hack is doing rounds on the internet and this has come as a blessing for all those who have oily scalps. According to this hack, you can get rid of the oily scalp by rinsing your hair with micellar water before shampooing.

Abbey Yung, a TikTok user shared this technique in April and shared a video about this. Soon after that, the video went viral. In the video, she pours micellar water on top of her head before shampooing twice.

How does micellar water work to get rid of greasy skin and hair?

Micellar technology is beneficial as it helps to get rid of greasy hair and oily skin, which is the reason why this product is used as a makeup remover.

It is made up of micelles (tiny cleansing balls that are suspended in water) that attracts oily substances and helps to remove them from the skin and hair. However, several people have also pointed out that dousing hair in micellar water every time before shampooing is not cost-effective.

So next time, if you are in a rush and oily scalp is bugging you then you know what to do. Psst! psst! a note: If it doesn't work, don't blame it on us.
