You may have heard of Monday blues, but have you encountered Monsoon blues? This term describes feelings of sadness that often accompany the rainy season.

While not a clinical disorder, monsoon blues can sometimes signal Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression linked to seasonal changes.

Symptoms of SAD include low mood, fatigue, increased sleep, and reduced appetite.

Tips to cheer yourself up during monsoon

Stay Active: Engage in indoor exercises or yoga to boost endorphins and maintain energy levels despite the gloomy weather.

Lighting: Increase exposure to natural light by keeping curtains open during daylight hours or using bright artificial lights indoors to combat the effects of reduced sunlight.

Socialize: Stay connected with friends and family through video calls or small gatherings to avoid feelings of isolation that can worsen during rainy days.

Healthy Diet: Consume nutritious foods rich in vitamins and minerals to support overall well-being and combat fatigue associated with the season.

Enjoy Indoors: Embrace indoor activities such as reading, cooking, or pursuing hobbies to stay occupied and maintain a positive mindset despite the weather.
