Butterfly Pea Tea: Beat the blues with this enchanting herbal tea

Derived from the gorgeous blue Clitoria, butterfly pea tea has become the latest buzz on the Internet. Majestic in colour, butterfly pea tea is a caffeine-free herbal concoction made by seeping dried or fresh leaves of the Clitoria Ternatea plant. This stunning blue tea can be prepared both as a hot and cold beverage and its earthy taste is said to also make it a mood uplifter.

Butterfly pea tea can be consumed as a regular tea or the tea leaves can be used to change the colour of cocktails. And upon adding some lemon juice, the pH of the drink changes, turning the royal blue colour to a gorgeous shade of pink.

There are some health benefits of consuming this tea as well. Blue tea is rich in antioxidants, making it a great beverage to include in your detox diet. It is also believed to have a role in regulating blood sugar levels, but there isn’t enough scientific evidence to support the claim.
