Bumble takes a stand against ghosting; users must explain or face ban

Bumble, a popular dating platform, has introduced a new feature allowing its users to report instances of ghosting during in-person dates.

The updated guidelines of the app specifically target the discouragement of no-show behaviour when clear plans for an in-person meetup have been agreed upon by both parties. Users who have been stood up can now utilize the in-app reporting feature to report such incidents. These reports will be subject to verification by moderators before any action is taken.

Ghosting behaviour during in-person dates has been added to Bumble's list of prohibited actions related to bullying and abusive conduct. This is due to the recognized profound impact ghosting can have on a person's mental health. Offenders may face bans from the platform as a consequence of their actions.

Bumble has already taken substantial steps in 2023 to address guideline violations, having removed 8.2 million accounts through its automated safeguard system.
