Road safety: About 10 killed in Jammu bus accident; follow these travel tips to keep yourself safe

A tragic bus accident recently took place at the Jammu- Srinagar National Highway which reportedly killed 10 people and injured 55 others.

Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind while travelling by a bus to avoid mishaps:

• Always check the route being taken by the driver to see stopovers and condition of roads, ahead of your journey
• Ask the driver whether he has inspected his vehicle properly or not before the long journey
• Avoid travelling to hilly areas during the monsoon season
• Always look for the emergency exit gates as soon as you enter a bus
