Farewell to Zubeen Garg: A Legendary Singer's Final Journey in Guwahati

Guwahati, Sep 23 (PTI) - The final journey of renowned singer Zubeen Garg commenced from the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex in Guwahati. His body was brought to the complex after undergoing a second postmortem at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.

The singer’s remains were displayed at the sports complex, where a massive throng of fans, well-wishers, and prominent figures gathered to pay their respects since Sunday.

The body was placed inside a cold glass coffin, draped with the traditional Assamese 'gamosa', and transported in an ambulance adorned with flowers. A large black and white portrait of the singer was displayed prominently at the front of the vehicle.

Zubeen Garg's family, including his 85-year-old father and wife, Garima Saikia, accompanied the procession in separate vehicles.

Thousands of admirers joined the procession, walking alongside and behind the motorcade.

Zubeen Garg will be laid to rest with full state honors at Kamarkuchi NC village, situated approximately 20 kilometers from the sports complex.
