Young Woman Pushed from Moving Train Near Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3 (PTI): In a shocking event near Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram, a young woman was allegedly pushed out of a moving train by an inebriated fellow passenger, the official FIR reported.

The accused, Suresh Kumar, aged 50 and hailing from Panachamoodu, reportedly attacked the 20-year-old Sreekutty of Palode after a confrontation over her standing at the train's doorway.

Sreekutty remains in critical condition in the ICU, though hospital authorities have noted some improvement in her health.

The Thiruvananthapuram Railway Police have arrested Kumar and filed a case of attempted murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

On this fateful journey on the Kerala Express from Aluva to Thiruvananthapuram, Sreekutty was accompanied by her friend Archana, aged 19, from PTP Nagar.

According to the FIR, an enraged Kumar allegedly kicked Sreekutty from behind and pushed her out after she refused to move, despite his demands.

Archana, who witnessed the horrifying event, detailed that the attacker also attempted to harm her, grabbing at her limbs before she was pulled to safety by other passengers.

Her complaint led to filing the case.

Authorities confirmed that Kumar was under the influence of alcohol, having boarded the unreserved coach in Kottayam.

The accused has now been detained and will face the court proceedings soon.

Sreekutty, who endured serious head and abdominal trauma from the fall, is currently under medical supervision at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

RPF officers intercepted Kumar at Kochuveli station, subsequently handing him to the Railway Police.
