Watch: Test-firing of new BrahMos missile with more made-in-India tech

India's push for greater self-reliance when it comes to defence equipment received a fresh boost. The Defence Research and Development Organisation, or DRDO, announced the successful testing of a new version of the BrahMos missile on January 20.

The supersonic cruise missile with increased indigenous tech and improved performance was test-fired at the Integrated Test Range in Odisha's Chandipur. The DRDO said that the successful test validated many new indigenous systems and thus, demonstrated enhanced capabilities.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the BrahMos and DRDO teams involved in the effort.

The BrahMos missile has been jointly developed by India and Russia. It can reportedly be launched from submarines, warships, aircraft, as well as land platforms.
