BRS leader K Keshava Rao has said his party will boycott the President's address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament to protest against the BJP-led Centre's "failure on all fronts of governance".
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) too said it will boycott the address.

Rao, who is also the Bharat Rashtra Samithi's floor leader in Rajya Sabha, said his party is "boycotting in protest against the failure of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre on all fronts of governance".
He said the AAP will also join the BRS in the boycott.
BRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is eyeing a role for himself in national politics and has been working on cobbling an alliance of opposition parties.
AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh said, &ldquo;With all due respect to President Droupadi Murmu, we are boycotting the joint sitting of Parliament as the government has failed on all fronts and has not fulfilled its promises&rdquo;.
Both Rao and Singh clarified that they and their parties respect the President and the President's chair but they are boycotting the address to protest against the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.&nbsp;

The Rashtrapati Bhavan too had on Saturday changed the name of its famed Mughal Gardens to 'Amrit Udyan.' A university official, who did not wish to be named, said that the coinciding of the name change was a matter of chance, and that the varsity had come to the decision after a prolonged discussion with its Garden Committee.
"The competent authority of the University of Delhi has approved the name of the garden (opposite the Vice Regal Lodge) with the statue of Gautam Buddha in its centre as Gautam Buddha Centenary Garden," said Registrar Vikas Gupta, in a notification dated January 27.

The Gautam Buddha statue has been standing in the garden for at least 15 years.
The official said the garden was neither built by the Mughals nor has it a Mughal garden design.
A typical Mughal garden -- based on Persian architectural design -- features canals and pools along the axes, as well as fountains and waterfalls, and over time also came to incorporate such features as terraces, and water channels lined with concrete or blue tiles.
"The Mughal gardens have specific designs with a pond, running water, and two cones of fountains on either side. Mughal gardens have fruit and flower trees. You can see at the Taj Mahal and other places that the Mughal garden has fruit trees, especially of peach and litchi. None of these features are in this garden," the official told PTI.
The official highlighted that many botanists and people with knowledge of gardens have pointed it out.
Asked about the timing of the name change, the official said the university is going to host a flower show in March so they decided to change the park's name ahead of it.
"We want to prepare brochures and pamphlets for the flower show. The recommendation for the change in name was sent to Vice Chancellor 15 days back and it is a mere coincidence that the Mughal Garden name was also changed," the official added.
The iconic Mughal Gardens at the Rashtrapati Bhavan was renamed Amrit Udyan on Saturday.
The gardens, designed by British architect Edwin Lutyens, are thrown open to the public once a year. People can visit them from January 31 onwards this year.
Located in the sprawling premises of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, Mughal Gardens, as it was known till Saturday, is spread over 15 acres and boasts to have over 150 varieties of roses and tulips, Asiatic lilies, daffodils, and other flowers.

The Election Commission on Monday withheld the Lakshadweep Lok Sabha bypoll after the Kerala High Court suspended the conviction and sentence of Mohammed Faizal, the MP representing the constituency who later stood disqualified, in an attempt-to-murder case.
The poll panel had announced the bypoll recently and it was to be held on February 27. The gazette notification, kicking off the nomination process, was to be issued on Tuesday.
The bypoll was announced following Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Faizal's disqualification on the ground of his conviction by a sessions court in Kavaratti.
Faizal had approached the high court against the order. The high court has suspended the conviction and sentence imposed on him.
"After considering the matter and having due regard to the order passed by Hon'ble High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam.... The Election Commission of India has decided to withhold the by-election and defer the issuance of notification for holding the by-election," a statement issued by the poll panel said.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday to press him for the revocation of Faizal's disqualification.
"Met with Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla and requested him to revoke the disqualification of Nationalist Congress Party's MP Shri PP Mohammed Faizal," Pawar said in a tweet.
The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear next week a plea moved by the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, challenging the January 25 Kerala High Court order that suspended Faizal's conviction and sentence.&nbsp;

A court in Gujarat's Gandhinagar on Monday convicted self-styled godman Asaram in a woman disciple rape case registered against him in 2013.

The court acquitted six other accused, including Asaram's wife, due to the lack of evidence.
As per the FIR lodged at Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad, Asaram allegedly raped the woman on several occasions from 2001 to 2006 when she was living at his ashram on the outskirts of the city.
"The court has accepted the prosecution case and convicted Asaram under sections 376 2(C) (rape), 377 (unnatural offences) and other provisions of the Indian Penal Code for illegal detention, among others," special public prosecutor RC Kodekar said on Monday.
The controversial godman is currently lodged in jail in Jodhpur in another rape case.
A Surat-based woman had filed a case of rape and illegal confinement against Asaram Bapu and seven others, one of whom died during the pendency of the trial, in October 2013. A chargesheet was filed in July 2014.&nbsp;

The Narendra Modi government has issued special instructions to prison authorities in all states and Union Territories regarding inmates who may try to radicalise others.
The Union Home Ministry has reportedly said that "inmates inclined towards propagating the ideology of radicalization, and those who have the propensity and potential to negatively influence other inmates" should be kept in separate enclosures.
The government also advised jail administrations to organise special de-radicalisation sessions.
Similarly, the MHA advised that the inmates who are in custody for offences related to "narcotics and smuggling of drugs" also be lodged separately, and to the extent possible, not allowed to mix with other inmates.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has tabled the Economic Survey in the Lok Sabha. The survey expects India's economy to grow at 6.5 per cent in 2023-24 compared to 7 per cent in the current fiscal (2022-23), and 8.7 per cent in 2021-22. It says that India will remain the fastest growing major economy in the world, driven by private consumption, higher capex, strengthening corporate balance sheet, credit growth to small businesses and return of migrant workers to cities. The Centre on Tuesday sought from the Supreme Court an open court hearing on its plea seeking review of the judgement by which several provisions of the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016 were struck down.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha was urged by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, that the review plea be heard in open court keeping in mind the importance of the issue.
&ldquo;This is an unusual request. We seek an open court hearing of the review. Due to this judgement, a lot of orders are being passed even though some of the provisions of the Benami Act were not even under challenge. Like the retrospectivity could not have been looked into (by the SC bench),&rdquo; the top law officer said.
&ldquo;We will consider it,&rdquo; the CJI said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said the State capital would be shifted to Visakhapatnam.
Addressing the preparatory meeting for the Global Investors Summit to be held in Visakhapatnam in March, Jagan said he would be shifting his office to the port city in the months to come.
"Here I am to invite you to Visakhapatnam which is going to be our capital in the days to come. I myself would also be shifting over to Visakhapatnam in the months to come," he said.
Amaravati is the present capital of Andhra Pradesh.
In November last year, Jagan Mohan Reddy government repealed the controversial AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, 2020 intended to establish three capitals for the State.
The State government had proposed three capitals, Visakhapatnam (Executive capital), Amaravati (Legislative capital) and Kurnool (Judicial capital).
Jagan further said the State Government is organising the Global Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4 and requested the corporate community to take part in the meet and invest in the State.

A seven-year-old girl allegedly hanged herself accidentally while playing with a piece of saree in Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Pakaria village on Monday when the girl was playing outside her home while her mother was working inside, Kotma Police Station in-charge Ajay Baiga said.
According to statements of the girl's family members, while playing using a piece of saree tied to a bamboo attached to the outer wall of the house, she accidently tied it around her neck, he said.
The family members later found the girl hanging and took her to Kotma's Community Health Centre where doctors declared her dead, the official said.
The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into it, he added.

In her maiden address to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajay Sabha in the central hall of Parliament President Murmu said, "India has entered Amrit Kaal completing its 75 years of Independence. Amrit Kaal is a period of 100 years of Independence and making of a developed India. These 25 years is a period for all citizens to focus on duty."
The President described an India without poverty and full of prosperity.
