Vande Bharat Train Service Between Katra and Srinagar Launches June 7

New Delhi, Jun 5 (PTI) The Northern Railway has announced the commencement of the Vande Bharat train service between Katra and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled to begin commercial operations from June 7. The service will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will start displaying these train services for ticket booking on their platform following the inauguration, according to an official statement.

As per Northern Railway, two Vande Bharat train sets will operate a total of four trips daily between Katra and Srinagar.

The trains feature two classes of service: Chair Car (CC) and Executive Class (EC), with ticket prices set at Rs 715 and Rs 1,320, respectively, as per a Northern Railway official.

The first train will depart from Katra at 8:10 am, reaching Srinagar by 11:08 am. It will then make its return journey from Srinagar at 2 PM, arriving back in Katra at 4:58 pm. This train will not run on Tuesdays.

The second service will leave Katra at 2:55 pm and is scheduled to arrive in Srinagar at 5:53 pm. This train will return from Srinagar the following day at 8 am, with the service not operating on Wednesdays.

Currently, the trains will make an intermediate stop at Banihal during the roughly three-hour journey, although additional stops may be added in the future, according to officials.
