"No overall division, distinction or aggregate of marks shall be awarded. Also, if a candidate has offered more than five subjects, the decision to determine the best five subjects may be taken by the admitting institution or employer,&rdquo; said CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.
Bhardwaj said the Board does not calculate, declare or inform the percentage of marks.
"If the percentage of marks is required for higher education or in employment, the calculation if any, may be done by the admitting institution or employer," he said.
Earlier, the CBSE also did away with the practice of issuing merit lists to avoid unhealthy competition.

Ernakulam DCC president Mohammed Shiyas alleged the Ministry had initially granted permission for the aircraft's landing at the Naval facility but later withdrew it.
Consequently, the aircraft, carrying Gandhi from Kannur, was directed to the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in nearby Nedumbassery, he told PTI.
An official source told PTI that the decision regarding granting permission for the landing of private jets at the Naval Station was made by the Defence Ministry. He, however, did not elaborate.
The former Congress chief, currently touring Kerala, has two programmes scheduled in Kochi on Friday.

At least eight people including three women and a child were killed and several others injured when their vehicle hit a stationary truck in Odisha&rsquo;s Keonjhar district early Friday, police said.
The accident took place on National Highway 20 near Balijodi village in Ghatagon area when the occupants of the vehicle were going to visit a temple.
While seven people died on the spot, another succumbed at a hospital.
Five of the injured people were undergoing treatment at Keonjhar district headquarters hospital, while three others were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.
A total of 20 people from Pudamari village in Ganjam district were on their way to have a darshan of Goddess Trarini, police said.
It is suspected that the driver dozed off leading to the accident that took place barely three km away from the temple.
The police have started an investigation.

Acting on specific intel regarding the presence of a terrorist in Arihal village of the south Kashmir district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area on Thursday, a police spokesman said.
During the search operation, the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately at the security forces, which retaliated, triggering an encounter, he said.
The terrorist, identified as Kifayat Ayoub Alie, a resident of Pinjoora Shopian and associated with the proscribed terror outfit LeT, was neutralised. His body was retrieved from the encounter site, the spokesman said.
Police records indicate his involvement in several terror-related crimes, the spokesman added.
Incriminating material and arms and ammunition, including a pistol, two magazines, five rounds, and two grenades, were seized from the encounter site, police said.&nbsp;

A 36-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by a 70-year-old Malayali man believed to be her live-in-partner or husband.

A 36-year-old Israeli woman was on Thursday found dead at her residence in this southern Kerala district, police said.
Police suspect that the woman's 70-year-old live-in partner killed her and have lodged an FIR under section 302 of the IPC against him.
An officer of Kottiyam police station narrated the statement given by the man, who claims to be a yoga acharya', that the couple decided to commit suicide and as part of that, the woman slit her throat.
The man claimed that he also stabbed his own neck and later his stomach, police said.
However, the woman had several stab wounds on her body besides the fatal injury to her neck, it said.
The man was also booked under section 309 (suicide attempt) of IPC and is presently hospitalised and under police surveillance, the officer said.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, came to light when the accused's relative found the couple in their room in an injured state.
As the relative shouted for help, the man, who was still conscious, got up and shut the door, police said.
The door was broken down after police arrived, but by then the woman was dead, the officer said.
The couple were living in the house of the accused's relative, police said.
The woman had been in Uttarakhand for 15 years and was in Kerala for the last one year, he said.
According to the accused, the woman was depressed and despite yoga lessons from him, she was not feeling better, the officer said.
The accused claimed that he was suffering from psoriasis and did not want to continue to live and hence, the couple decided to end their lives, the police said.
A suicide note was found in the room, but it has not been analysed yet, the offier said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday called for supporting developing countries with adequate climate financing and technology transfer to enable them to deal with climate change as he arrived here to attend the World Climate Action Summit.
"Landed in Dubai to take part in the COP-28 Summit. Looking forward to the proceedings of the Summit, which are aimed at creating a better planet," Modi posted on X on his arrival here.
"Deeply moved by the warm welcome from the Indian community in Dubai. Their support and enthusiasm is a testament to our vibrant culture and strong bonds," he said in a post later.
Before leaving Delhi, the prime minister said he was happy to see that this significant event is being held under the Presidency of the UAE, an important Indian partner on climate action. "In keeping with our civilizational ethos, India has always laid emphasis on climate action even as we pursue social and economic development," he said.
"During our G20 presidency, climate was high on our priority. The New Delhi Leaders' Declaration includes numerous concrete steps on climate action and sustainable development. I look forward to the COP28 taking forward the consensus on these issues," Modi said in his departure statement.
Modi will attend the World Climate Action Summit on Friday during the United Nations 'Conference of the Parties' on climate, known as COP28.
Several world leaders are set to attend the climate action summit to discuss ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and effectively combat climate change.
The World Climate Action Summit is the high-level segment of the COP28.
The prime minister is scheduled to participate in three other high-level side events as well. The COP28 is taking place from November 30 to December 12 under the presidency of the UAE.
In his statement, the prime minister said the COP28 will provide an opportunity to review progress made under the Paris Agreement and chart a path for future course on climate action.
"At the Voice of Global South Summit convened by India, the Global South spoke for the need for climate action based on the principles of equity, climate justice, and common but differentiated responsibilities, as well as a greater focus on adaptation," Modi said.
"It is important that efforts of the developing world be supported with adequate climate financing and technology transfer. They must have access to equitable carbon and development space to achieve sustainable development," he said.
The prime minister noted that India has walked the talk when it comes to climate action.
"Our achievements in different sectors like renewable energy, energy efficiency, afforestation, energy conservation, Mission LiFE are testament to the commitment of our people towards mother earth," he said.
Modi said he was looking forward to joining special events including on climate finance and green credit initiative.
During his stay here, Prime Minister Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with some of the leaders participating in the summit, including Israeli President Isaac Herzog, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the newly-elected Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu.&nbsp;

The White House on Thursday praised New Delhi for setting up its own investigations on the US allegations that an Indian official was involved in a plot to kill separatist Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
The unnamed Indian official appeared in an indictment filed by federal prosecutors in a Manhattan court on Wednesday along with an Indian national, who the Department of Justice alleges hired someone in the US to assassinate Pannun, a vocal critic of India and espousing the cause of a separate Khalistan.
"These allegations in this investigation, (we) take it very seriously. And we're glad to see that the Indians are too by announcing their own efforts to investigate this. And we've been clear that we want to see anybody that's responsible for these alleged crimes to be held properly accountable," John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House, told reporters at a news conference here.
However, this will not have an impact on India-US relationship, he said, observing that the US unearthed this plot after the historic visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US.
"I want to be careful here that I don't get ahead of the Department of Justice and talk about an ongoing investigation. I would just say two things. India remains a strategic partner and we're going to continue to work to improve and strengthen that strategic partnership with India. At the same time, we take this very seriously," Kirby said in response to a question.
The Department of Justice, in an indictment charged Indian national Nikhil Gupta with conspiracy to commit murder for hire for his alleged role in the plot to kill the Sikh American individual. Gupta is accused of working with an Indian government employee to recruit and pay an assassin to carry out the killing.
"We are deeply disturbed by these reports and the potential threat they pose to the safety of our community. Since 2020, SALDEF has been tracking instances of censorship of diasporic Sikh voices and today's indictment is not an isolated incident but a part of a broader pattern of silencing Sikh voices,&rdquo; said Kiran Kaur Gill, executive director of SALDEF, which describes itself as is a national Sikh American impact organisation focused on building leadership and capacity in the Sikh American community.
"If these allegations are true, it would represent a serious violation of international law and be a blatant example of transnational repression," Gill said.
New Delhi announcing an investigation into allegations by the US that an Indian official was involved in a foiled plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist leader in the United States is good and appropriate, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Thursday.
"The government announced today that it was conducting an investigation, and that&rsquo;s good and appropriate, and we look forward to seeing the results,&rdquo; Blinken told reporters travelling with him in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Blinken was responding to a question on the appearance of an unnamed Indian official in an indictment filed by federal US prosecutors in a Manhattan court on Wednesday along with an Indian national, who the Department of Justice alleges hired someone in the US to assassinate Pannun, a vocal critic of India and espousing the cause of separate Khalistan.

The first visuals of the workers trapped under the collapsed Uttarkashi tunnel have been released.

Rescuers on Tuesday released the first video of the workers trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel here for 10 days.
The visuals were captured using an endoscopic camera sent in through the alternative 6-inch food pipeline.
In the video, the workers, wearing yellow and white helmets, are seen receiving food items sent to them through the pipeline and talking to each other.
This comes as a big relief to the families of these workers.
National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) Director Anshu Manish Khalkho had earlier said that cameras would be inserted through the pipeline to see how the workers were doing.
The camera was sent in after it came from Delhi late on Monday evening.

UGC asks universities, colleges to set up selfie points to raise awareness about India&nbsp;

The UGC has asked universities and colleges across the country to set up selfie points at strategic locations in the campus to raise awareness among youngsters about India's achievements in various fields, according to officials.
The institutions can only put up the selfie points in accordance with the approved designs in 3D layouts shared by the Ministry of Education.
"These selfie points will not only serve as a source of pride, but also enlighten every citizen about the transformative initiatives that have propelled India's growth on the global stage. Students and visitors should be encouraged to capture and share these special moments on social media platforms, fostering a sense of collective pride," University Grants Commission (UGC) Secretary Manish Joshi said.
He explained that the themes for the selfie points encompass a broad spectrum of national initiatives, such as "Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat", and the major thrust areas of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.
"There is a unique opportunity to harness the energy and enthusiasm of youngsters, moulding their minds with inspiration drawn from India's progress in diverse fields. The selfie points in these institutions will emerge as a dynamic and engaging place to instill a sense of national pride and awareness among youngsters and inspire future generations," Joshi said.

 NIT student's social media post: Kashmir universities erupt in protests

Demanding stringent action against the non-local student, protests were held at the NIT-Srinagar on Tuesday over the social media post that has allegedly hurting religious sentiments.&nbsp;

A protest march was taken out in the Kashmir University and Islamic University campus against a social media post of a non-local student of the National Institute of Technology that has allegedly hurt religious sentiments.
The march was taken out in the Kashmir university complex, located in the Hazratbal area of the city, after the Friday prayers.
The march was peaceful and the protesters raised slogans in favour of Prophet Mohammad. A similar protest was held at the Islamic university in Awantipora.&nbsp;
They said the protesters, including female students, were not allowed to move outside the main gate of the university. They later dispersed peacefully.
Protests were held at the NIT, Srinagar on Tuesday over the social media post that has allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The protesters demanded stringent action against the non-local student, who has been sent home on leave.
Police have filed a case against the student for promoting religious enmity between communities.
The NIT was closed for winter vacation on Thursday, 10 days ahead of the schedule, as a precautionary measure.
Protests were also held at the Amar Singh College and the Islamia College here on Wednesday against the social media post.

Tamil Nadu vigilance arrests senior ED official 'while taking bribe'

The arrest of the senior ED official named Ankit Tiwari comes at the time when the central probe agency is actively pursuing cases against Tamil Nadu ministers and senior state government officials.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s vigilance department has arrested a senior Enforcement Directorate official for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rupees 20 lakh.&nbsp;
The Indian Express reported that the Madurai branch of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption apprehended the Enforcement Directorate official Ankit Tiwari on the Dindigul-Madurai highway on the intervening night of December 1.
The report said that Tiwari had previously served in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, was allegedly caught after the individual who offered him the bribe alerted the vigilance sleuths.&nbsp;
The arrest came at a time when the ED, which is a central agency, has been actively pursuing cases against Tamil Nadu ministers and senior state government officials.

There was panic among parents in Bengaluru after 48 private schools received a bomb threat via an email

Forty-eight private schools in Bengaluru on Friday morning received an email with a bomb threat on its premises, triggering panic among the staff and parents, police said.
The school authorities immediately alerted police, who reached the institutions concerned with the bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage check teams, they said.
The students and staff were immediately evacuated from the school premises, police said, adding no suspicious objects have been found yet and prima facie, it looks like it's a hoax message.
"So far, 48 schools in Bengaluru have received an email about bomb threat. The message about a bomb threat was received from an email id. Search operations are almost over and so far, our teams have not found any suspicious objects on any of the school premises. Prime facie, it appears to be a hoax message. We are also in the process of registering a case in this regard and a thorough investigation is underway," a senior police officer said.
Students had already reached schools when they got to know about the email threat. Parents rushed to schools from their respective offices and homes in panic to get their children back home safely. Some of these students from different schools which received bomb threats said they had exams scheduled for the day.
"The email claimed that explosives had been planted on school premises. We received a call from the command centre and immediately rushed our teams to schools which are located in different parts of the city. All students and staff have been safely evacuated from the school premises and a thorough search operation was carried out," another senior officer said.
Parents need not panic, our teams are on the ground, he said.
Earlier in the day, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda said, some schools in Bengaluru received threat emails. Bomb detection and disposal squads were sent to all these schools, and most likely it seemed to be a hoax.
"Earlier, also similar threat letters and emails had come to schools and they were found to be a hoax for mischief and police had identified those behind it. Police are verifying today's mails too... officials and personnel have gone to all these spots. I appeal to people not to worry, as most likely all these are hoax calls (mails)," he said.
Last year also, some miscreants sent such emails claiming about a bomb threat to schools in Bengaluru, which later turned out to be a hoax message, police said.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he has asked police to seriously investigate the e-mail and its source, and provide adequate security to schools and temples as a precautionary measure.
"I have spoken to police officers and I have instructed them to take adequate security measures at all places, to remain cautious, and to find out those behind it. There is no need for anyone to worry. I have asked security to be tightened, and checks to be conducted at schools which have received threats," he added.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited one of the schools which received the bomb threat. He took information from the school and the police about the situation. "I was a bit dismayed after seeing the news on TV, as some schools I know and the one near my house were also mentioned. So I went out to check. The police have shown me the mail. Prima facie, it appears to be fake (hoax). I spoke to the police... But we should be cautious. Parents are a bit worried, no need to worry. Police are looking into it," he said. Shivakumar appealed to parents not to worry and said their children would be safe.
"Some mischief mongers might have done this, in 24 hours we will nab them. Cyber crime police are active; they are doing their job... We should also be cautious and should not neglect," he added.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said the message had come from email id kharijites@beeble.com. The email says bombs have been placed in about 15 schools in Bengaluru and threatened to kill children and staff.
"We are seriously verifying it and its source. I have spoken to the Commissioner and officials and have given the necessary instructions and verification on whether it's true or hoax and measures to be taken accordingly.
"We will verify as to who is behind it and if there is the involvement of any terrorist organisation, and take measures accordingly. For now, it cannot be said who is behind it. The message in the email asks people to convert and other things, it will be verified," he told reporters here.
The home minister recalled that last year, too, a similar threat had come. It was a hoax. This also may be a hoax, but we won't take it lightly. Even if there is one per cent (doubt), we will take it seriously and take measures like sensitising the intelligence and informing central agencies, which the department has to do.
Stating that he is in regular touch with officials and, if necessary, will hold a meeting with senior officials, Parameshwara appealed to parents and the public not to worry. "First we will focus on checking and clearing in 15 schools, and will look into other schools later with jurisdiction police station officials visiting them," he added.&nbsp;

At least 15 private schools in Bengaluru on Friday morning received an email with a bomb threat on its premises, triggering panic among the staff and parents, police said.
The school authorities immediately alerted police, which reached the institutions concerned with the bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage check teams, they said.
The students and staff were immediately evacuated from the school premises, police said, adding no suspicious objects have been found yet.
As soon as parents got to know about the incident, they rushed to schools in panic to get their children back home safely.
"The email claimed that explosives had been planted on school premises. We received a call from the command centre and immediately rushed our teams to schools which are located in different parts of the city. All students and staff have been safely evacuated from the school premises and a thorough search operation is being carried out," a senior police officer said.
So far, nothing suspicious has been found yet and prima facie looks like it's a hoax message. Parents need not panic, our teams are on the ground, he said.
Last year also, some miscreants sent such emails claiming about a bomb threat to schools in Bengaluru, which later turned out to be a hoax message, police said.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited one of the schools which received the bomb threat. He took information from the school and the police about the situation.
"I was a bit dismayed after seeing the news on TV, as some schools I know and the one near my house were also mentioned. So I went out to check. The police have shown me the mail. Prima facie, it appears to be fake (hoax). I spoke to the police... But we should be cautious. Parents are a bit worried, no need to worry. Police are looking into it," he said.
Shivakumar appealed to parents not to worry and said their children would be safe.
"Some mischief mongers might have done this, in 24 hours we will nab them. Cyber crime police are active, they are doing their job... We should also be cautious and should not neglect," he added.
