Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami holds key talks with 16th finance commission on state funding

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is holding key discussions with the 16th Finance Commission team, led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, to decide the state’s share of grants and taxes for the next five years.

The meeting is underway at the Secretariat, where senior officials are outlining the state’s financial needs and priorities.

The state government is making a detailed presentation to the commission, which includes members Annie George Mathew, Manoj Panda, Soumya Kantighosh, Ritwik Pandey, Secretary KK Mishra, Joint Secretary KK Mishra, and Joint Director P Amruthavarshini. This engagement is a crucial step in finalising Uttarakhand’s fiscal roadmap, which will shape the state’s development plans for the upcoming five-year period.

After the meeting with the Chief Minister and officials, the Finance Commission will consult representatives from municipal bodies, panchayats, and political parties to finalize the framework for financial distribution. These discussions will determine the allocation of resources that will support the state’s budget and growth objectives.

The 16th Finance Commission team arrived in Dehradun on Sunday, where they were welcomed by Chief Minister Dhami with traditional honours, including the beats of Dhol Damau. This visit marks an important milestone in securing Uttarakhand’s fair share of funds to support its development goals over the next five years.
