Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday handed over appointment letters to 220 newly recruited medical officers during a Medical Health Empowerment Campaign organised by the State Health Department at Mukhya Sewak Sadan.

Congratulating the doctors, Dhami called the occasion a significant milestone in their lives. He said, “You are not just doctors but also the health guards of Devbhoomi. That is why all of you have to work with full dedication and service spirit to take the state's medicine to new heights, affordable and accessible to the public.”

The chief minister highlighted that more than 11 lakh patients in the state have availed cashless treatment facilities worth over ₹21 crore. He added that advanced medical services, including cardiology and neurology in Srinagar and cancer treatment in Haldwani, are being expanded. Emergency air services from remote areas, he said, have proven life-saving, as witnessed during the recent disaster in Dharali.

Dhami further noted that free health check-ups, modernisation of health centres, appointment of paramedical staff and telemedicine services have given a new dimension to medical services in Uttarakhand. “We are trying to establish one medical college in each district so that people can get quality health facilities at the local level,” he said.

Emphasising broader development, the chief minister remarked that Uttarakhand is setting new benchmarks in every sector. “The resolution of developed India will be realised only with the development of Uttarakhand, and the resolution of Uttarakhand's development will be realised only with the development of society, citizens and every sector here,” he said.

Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, who was also present, said that the health department is achieving new milestones in recruitment under Dhami’s leadership. He informed that except for four doctors under the Divyang quota, all newly appointed medical officers will be posted in remote areas. The minister also announced that more doctors, nurses and supporting staff will be recruited soon.

Rawat said that from September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to October 2, blood donation camps will be organised across 220 locations in the state. In addition, health camps will be set up in every village, benefitting over 25 lakh people.
