Yogi government pushes Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 to make UP global hub

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to move forward with the implementation of the Uttar Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025, an ambitious initiative aimed at making the state a global hub for electronics production.

According to the government, the policy seeks to attract large-scale investment, enhance manufacturing output, and create lakhs of jobs while reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s growing role in India’s electronics sector.

Chairing a review meeting on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said the electronics industry is one of the fastest-growing segments of India’s economy.

“Today, India is the world’s second-largest mobile manufacturer, with Uttar Pradesh contributing nearly 60% of the country’s output. Uttar Pradesh must capitalise on the immense potential in this sector,” he said.

Highlighting the state’s achievements over the past eight years, Yogi Adityanath added, “Now it is time for Uttar Pradesh to establish a distinct identity on the global map in electronics manufacturing. This policy will strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ while taking the state's economy to new heights.”

Electronics Sector Growth

Officials noted that electronics production in India has surged from Rs 1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs 11.3 lakh crore by 2024-25. Mobile phone manufacturing grew from Rs 18,000 crore to Rs 5.45 lakh crore in the same period, while exports jumped from Rs 1,500 crore to Rs 2 lakh crore.

Uttar Pradesh itself accounted for electronics hardware exports worth Rs 37,000 crore in 2023-24.

The new policy aims to achieve $50 billion in electronics production over the next five years, with the potential to generate nearly 10 lakh direct and indirect jobs. This will make a substantial contribution to the state’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy, officials said.

Incentives and Industry Support

The Chief Minister emphasised that investors should be encouraged through top-up incentives in addition to central government schemes. Provisions such as subsidies on capital investment, stamp duty exemptions, electricity concessions, interest grants, logistics support, and operational benefits will be included.

Special focus will be on companies that generate employment and provide opportunities to the youth of Uttar Pradesh. “Transparency and timely implementation must be ensured in executing the policy. Investors will be provided all facilities through a single-window system, ensuring ease of doing business,” Yogi Adityanath said.

Strengthening Ecosystem

The proposed policy also envisions boosting research and development, innovation, startup ecosystems, and skill development. Existing clusters in Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway region will be further expanded.

With the upcoming Jewar International Airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Uttar Pradesh is expected to solidify its position in the global supply chain.

Yogi Adityanath directed officials to prepare a concrete action plan, noting that the policy will help reduce import dependence, increase domestic value addition, and save foreign exchange while attracting foreign investments.
