Uttar Pradesh: Yogi govt stands firmly with flood-hit people, ensuring their essential needs are met

Continuous heavy rains in both the mountains and plains of Uttar Pradesh have triggered widespread flooding, affecting 2,52,839 people across 43 tehsils and 768 villages in 22 districts, officials said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed authorities to intensify relief measures, ensure that affected families are shifted to safe locations without delay, and provide for all essential needs. Special arrangements have also been ordered for the care and protection of livestock.

According to Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami, 33,370 cattle have been relocated, and more than 37,279 hectares of land have been submerged. Relief efforts are being carried out using 550 boats and motorboats, and on Tuesday alone, 6,458 food packets and 7,143 lunch packets were distributed.

To safeguard health, authorities have provided 11,022 chlorine tablets and 5,049 ORS packets to prevent waterborne diseases. 278 flood shelters are currently operational, hosting 3,089 displaced people, all of whom are undergoing medical check-ups by 586 medical teams. In addition, 1,022 flood posts have been set up to monitor the situation around the clock.

The districts currently affected include Varanasi, Prayagraj, Auraiya, Bahraich, Banda, Mirzapur, Kanpur Dehat, Chandauli, Fatehpur, Kanpur Nagar, Barabanki, Badaun, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Hardoi, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Meerut, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Shahjahanpur, and Unnao. Relief and rescue operations are ongoing in all regions, with teams working to ensure the safety and welfare of residents.

The Yogi government has also emphasized the protection of livestock and continued distribution of fodder, underlining its commitment to safeguarding both human and animal lives in flood-hit areas.
