Uttar Pradesh: Teachers being honoured under Yogi govt for sculpting children's future

Since 2017, UP has recruited over 1.6 lakh teachers, boosted awards, streamlined services, and expanded training to strengthen education.

Uttar Pradesh: Teachers being honoured under Yogi govt for sculpting children's future

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has introduced a series of historic measures in the education sector since 2017, with a strong focus on teacher empowerment.

The Chief Minister has consistently maintained that “the future of children can only be shaped when teachers are respected and capable.” Guided by this belief, the government has emphasized transparent recruitment, recognition, and skill development of teachers.

Officials said the government has proven that when teachers are empowered and respected, the education system automatically becomes stronger.

Teachers in Uttar Pradesh are now not only benefiting from fair appointments but also receiving social recognition and opportunities for professional growth. As a result, the government asserts, “the future of children is brighter and safer than ever before.”

Transparent Recruitment Drive

To ensure quality education in government schools, the Yogi administration made the recruitment process fair and transparent. Under this system, the Basic Education Department appointed 1,26,371 teachers.

In government secondary schools, 6,808 assistant teachers, 1,939 lecturers, and 219 principals were recruited. In addition, 34,074 teachers were appointed in aided schools, while 1,266 lecturers were selected for SCERT and DIET units.

Recognition and Awards for Teachers

The government has also prioritized recognition for teachers’ contributions. Since 2018, 379 teachers from basic education and 85 from secondary education have been honored with the State Teacher Award. The incentive for awardees was raised from ₹10,000 to ₹25,000.

Teachers receiving awards also enjoy additional benefits such as free bus travel, extra salary increments, and service extensions. A special Chief Minister Teacher Award scheme was also launched for teachers in self-financed schools. Officials said these steps boosted morale and encouraged educators to work with renewed commitment.

Addressing Teachers’ Concerns

To streamline administrative processes, the state launched the Manav Sampada Portal, which handles tasks such as leave applications, salary disbursement, service record maintenance, dependent appointments, transfers, promotions, and show-cause resolutions.

In 2025–26 alone, 20,182 teachers were given inter-district adjustments, while 16,646 underwent interpersonal transfers. A total of 543 teachers were reassigned as per student-teacher ratio, and 383 assistant teachers and lecturers were promoted as principals.

Training and Capacity Building

Recognizing the need for modern skills, the government organized large-scale training programs. Around 2.41 lakh teachers received training in life skills, safety, innovative mathematics methods, digital literacy, coding, computational thinking, and artificial intelligence. More than 1.30 lakh principals and nodal teachers attended 10-day training sessions on inclusive education.

Further, 4.53 lakh teachers and education mentors were trained under the Nipun Bharat Mission. To strengthen on-site support, 5,500 mentors were appointed, while 16,000 digital subject resources were uploaded on the DIKSHA portal. Teachers were also provided with pocket booklets for quick reference.

Future Plans

All DIET centers across Uttar Pradesh are being upgraded as centres of excellence to enhance teacher training quality and further improve the state’s education system.
