The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is set to establish a ‘Rail Neer’ bottled water plant in Saraswati High-Tech City, Prayagraj, aligning with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of making Uttar Pradesh a one-trillion-dollar economy.

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has allocated 2.5 acres for the project, with an estimated investment of ₹25 crore. The plant will have a production capacity of 1 lakh liters per day, significantly increasing the availability of packaged drinking water.

IRCTC already operates multiple ‘Rail Neer’ plants across India, including two in Uttar Pradesh—Amethi and Hapur. This upcoming facility will be the third in the state, catering to the Purvanchal region.

“This project will not only promote industrial development but also play a key role in providing safe drinking water to railway passengers,” said Mayur Maheshwari, CEO of UPSIDA.

With high demand for packaged drinking water, especially during summer, the plant will ensure the availability of clean and high-quality drinking water for passengers, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. Additionally, it is expected to generate direct and indirect employment, boosting the local economy.

Strategically located 5 km from the railway station, 25 km from Prayagraj Airport, and 15 km from the highway, the plant will benefit from strong logistics and supply networks.

The initiative is also expected to attract industrial investors and encourage further investments in Uttar Pradesh.
