CM Yogi inaugurates SBI Foundation ICU Project at SGPGI, Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday inaugurated the SBI Foundation ICU Project at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow.

The project, launched under the Saloni Heart Centre, is aimed at treating congenital heart diseases in children.

On the occasion, the SBI Foundation announced financial support of ₹10 crore to equip the centre with advanced medical technology and resources.

Speaking at the event, CM Yogi said, "For long, UP lacked advanced facilities for paediatric heart treatment. The Saloni Heart Centre has changed this. In just 18 months, over 300 paediatric heart surgeries have been completed. While the first phase is fully operational, the second phase is progressing swiftly."

The chief minister appreciated the efforts of Mili Seth and Himanshu Seth, founders of the Saloni Heart Foundation, and acknowledged the SBI Foundation’s contribution. "The Saloni Heart Centre has become a beacon of hope for thousands of families. It is also a direct outcome of the Global Investors Summit 2023, proving immensely effective in saving children's lives," he said.

Drawing a parallel with the state’s success in eradicating encephalitis, Yogi highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is now making significant strides in combating paediatric heart diseases. He expressed confidence that SBI’s support would further strengthen the Saloni Heart Centre and turn it into a milestone institution in child healthcare.

SGPGI director Prof R.K. Dhiman briefed the CM about the centre’s journey and achievements. The event was attended by deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, minister of state Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, and senior officials from Saloni Foundation, SBI, SGPGI, and the health department.
