Amid strengthening US-India ties, the US embassy in India issued a record-breaking 90,000 visas to Indian students this Summer. While congratulating the chosen students, the embassy credited the win to “teamwork and innovation.”

A recent spike has been observed in Indian students wanting to pursue higher education in the US, with reportedly over 2,07,000 Indian students in the US as of 2020.

India beat China to have the most number of international students in the US last year, as per NDTV.

“Congratulations and best wishes to all the students who have chosen the United States to make their higher education goals a reality,” the US embassy in India wrote in a post.

The H1-B visa, which allows US employers to bring on overseas skilled workers, is also usually in high demand. The US Congress set the annual limit for H1-B visas at 65,000.
