Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has said he is 'seeking legal advice' after filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri alleged in an interview that Tharoor took money to promote foreign vaccines over indigenous ones.
As per the Indian Express, Agnihotri also named Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal along with the parliamentarian.&nbsp;
In a video interview given to IAMBUDDHA, Agnihotri said that he has no objection if celebrities take money and promote something, however, he asserted that people holding constitutional posts should not do it.&nbsp;
The filmmaker then mentioned Shashi Tharoor and Arvind Kejriwal alleging they took money to promote international vaccines.&nbsp;
Responding to the allegations the Congress MP wrote on X, "It is obviously a cheap bid for publicity, but the concern is that once a lie is repeated often enough, some people will start to believe it. Am seeking legal advice."
Agnihotri's comments came ahead of the release of his forthcoming movie "The Vaccine War", based on the true story of Indian scientists, their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and how they developed an affordable vaccine for India and the world.

A local court in Punjab on Thursday sent Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to a two-day police remand in connection with a 2015 drugs case, a police official said.
Khaira was produced in the court in Fazilka's Jalalabad after being arrested from Chandigarh, the official said. Police had sought a seven-day remand from the court.
Earlier, a Punjab Police team raided the Chandigarh residence of Khaira and arrested him on the basis of an investigation conducted by a special investigation team led by Deputy Inspector General of Police Swapan Sharma in the drugs case.
The SIT was formed in April 2023.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a preliminary enquiry to look into alleged "irregularities and misconduct" by unidentified public servants of the Delhi government in connection with the construction of a new official residence for the chief minister, officials said on Wednesday.
Reacting to the CBI action, Kejriwal told reporters, "The prime minister is nervous. This shows his nervousness. The inquiry against me is nothing new. So far, inquiries have been conducted against me in more than 50 cases in the last eight years." "It was said that Kejriwal committed scam in building schools, bus scam, liquor scam, road scam, water scam, electricity scam. I may have faced the maximum number of inquiries in the world. Welcome this new inquiry. Nothing was found in any case. Nothing will be found in this also. What will you get when there is nothing wrong?" he said.
Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari at a press conference here said the CBI probe would disclose the facts related to the tendering process of Kejriwal's residence.

Over Rs.122 crore have been paid out to advocates who argued for Karnataka in water dispute cases since 1990, as per a new RTI filing. Out of the hefty appearance fees pool, the lion&rsquo;s share was gone to senior lawyers, with some receiving over Rs. 20 crores.
Bar and Bench reported that a total of 41 lawyers have been paid in the last three decades for appearing in the Supreme Court and tribunal hearings.
Senior Advocate Anil Divan topped the list after receiving nearly 30 crores since 1990. Fali S Nariman, SS Jawali, Shyam Divan and Mohan Katarki were also among the top recipients.

Anti-govt protesters tried to attack Manipur CM's ancestral house in Imphal on Thursday night but security forces foiled the attempt

A mob tried to attack Chief Minister N Biren Singh&rsquo;s empty ancestral house on Thursday night, despite a security clampdown and curfew in the Imphal valley.
Security forces, however, were successful in foiling the attempt after firing in the air.
Singh lives in a separate, well-guarded official residence in the centre of the state&rsquo;s capital.
&ldquo;There was an attempt to attack the chief minister&rsquo;s ancestral house at Heingang locality in Imphal. Security forces stopped the mob around 100-150 metres away from the house,&rdquo; a police officer said.
Nobody stays in the house now though it too is guarded round the clock, the officer said.
The police officer said, &ldquo;Two groups of people came from different directions and approached the CM&rsquo;s ancestral residence but they were stopped.&rdquo; Several rounds of tear gas shells were fired by RAF and state police personnel to disperse the mob.
The authorities switched off the electricity connection in the entire area to help reduce the visibility of the protestors. More barricades were added to the previous ones near the house.
The protestors also burnt tyres in the middle of the nearby road.
Ambulances were seen advancing near the spot but till now there is no report of injury to any side.
The incident occurred amid violent protests by students over the death of two youths in Manipur rocked the state capital on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A mob vandalised the deputy commissioner's office in Imphal West district and torched two four-wheelers in the early hours of Thursday.
Curfew was re-imposed in the two districts -- Imphal East and West &ndash; on Wednesday as the security forces combatted the violent protests, which saw 65 demonstrators being injured since Tuesday.
A fresh bout of violence broke out in the state capital on Tuesday, a day after photos of the bodies of two youths - a man and a girl - who went missing in July went viral on social media.
Earlier, houses of several ministers were attacked in Manipur which has been witnessing ethnic strife for nearly five months.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed global developments and laid the groundwork for a 2+2 meeting during his wide-ranging talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, amid a simmering diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of a Khalistani separatist.
Jaishankar is currently on a five-day official trip to Washington DC. This is the highest-level interaction between the two countries after the recent G-20 Summit in New Delhi.
"Great to meet my friend US Secretary of State @SecBlinken at the State Department today. A wide-ranging discussion, following up on PM @narendramodi&rsquo;s June visit. Also exchanged notes on global developments. Laid the groundwork of our 2+2 meeting very soon," he posted on X on Friday.
New Delhi will host the fifth edition of India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, Jaishankar announced on Thursday. Although he did not reveal the dates of the meeting, it is learnt that the ministerial dialogue would be held in the first half of November.
The US delegation would be represented by Blinken along with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will lead the Indian delegation.
&ldquo;I actually look forward to seeing you in Delhi for the 2+2,&rdquo; Jaishankar told Blinken, as the latter welcomed him at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the State Department for the meeting.
The last 2+2 ministerial was held in Washington DC on April 11. Started during the previous Trump administration, the first 2+2 ministerial was held in New Delhi on September 6, 2018.
"Focused discussion on India-US collaboration on critical and emerging tech and creating resilient supply chains at discussion convened by @USISPForum," Jaishankar said in another post on social media platform X.
"Glad to know that India is the major talking point in corporate boardrooms. Our collaboration offers more possibilities with each passing day," he said.
The two sides remained tight-lipped about the direct or indirect implications of the diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia early this year.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has alleged that the Indian government was behind the killing of &nbsp;Nijjar on June 18. India had designated Nijjar as a terrorist in 2020. India has rejected Canada's allegations as "absurd" and "motivated".
Secretary Blinken refused to respond to reporters&rsquo; questions about the row.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a pleasure to welcome my friend and colleague, Foreign Minister Jaishankar, here to the State Department, back to Washington. &nbsp;We&rsquo;ve had very good discussions over the last weeks &ndash; of course at the G20, in New York at the General Assembly &ndash; and I&rsquo;m looking forward to pursuing them this afternoon,&rdquo; Blinken said welcoming Jaishankar at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the State Department.
Both the top diplomats were smiling and in a cheerful mood as they appeared before the media at the Treaty Room of the State Department for a photo-op ahead of their bilateral meeting on Thursday.
&ldquo;Good to be back here, and we, of course, had the prime minister here this summer. &nbsp;We thank the US for all the support at the G20 summit,&rdquo; Jaishankar said in his brief remarks. Soon thereafter, the two leaders headed for the bilateral meeting.
Jaishankar, who arrived here from New York on Wednesday after addressing the 78th General Assembly session of the United Nations on Tuesday, held a series of meetings with top Biden administration officials on Thursday.
He started the day with a visit to the White House for a meeting with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. The White House did not issue a readout of the meeting.
&ldquo;Recognized the tremendous progress in our bilateral relationship this year and discussed taking it forward,&rdquo; the minister posted on X.
After a meeting with representatives of the think tanks from Washington DC, Jaishankar met US Trade Representative Katherine Tai.
&ldquo;Spoke about our expanding trade and economic relationship and its broader significance,&rdquo; he wrote on X.
&ldquo;Today I met with&rdquo; Jaishankar &ldquo;to discuss the positive momentum of the U.S.-India trade relationship, and opportunities to collaborate on WTO reform and IPEF negotiations,&rdquo; Tai said.
Jaishankar described his meetings with the think tanks as an open and productive conversation.
&ldquo;Discussed transformations underway around the world and India&rsquo;s growing role,&rdquo; he said.
On Friday, Jaishankar will speak on 'India&rsquo;s Role in the World Today' at the prestigious Hudson Institute think-tank.&nbsp;

Two police personnel have been removed from their place of posting in Meerut and sent to the police lines for allegedly placing a pistol in a motorcycle and later arresting the two-wheeler's owner on a charge of carrying the firearm illegally, officials said on Thursday.
The youth was arrested on Tuesday.
Family members of the youth alleged that two police personnel -- Dinesh and Santosh -- searched their house in Khudawali village claiming that they had information about illegal arms kept there.
They recovered a country-made pistol kept in a bike. However, the CCTV footage was scanned and it was found that the two police personnel themselves kept the arms in the bike, the youth's kin alleged.
The family members approached Inspector General of Police Nachiketa Jhan and showed him the CCTV footage after which Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan was asked to probe the matter, an official said.
Based on the CCTV footage, the two accused policemen were removed from their place posting at Kharkhauda police station and sent to the police lines. ASP (Rural) Kamlesh Bahadur was probing the matter, Sajwan said.
Reacting to the incident, Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav, in a post on social media site X, said, "First they keep it themselves and then recover it, their raid and detention is false".

A teacher in Amethi thrashed a student, rupturing his eardrums. A case has been filed.

A teacher allegedly thrashed a 13-year-old boy for talking during the class in a government school in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi.&nbsp;
The boy's eardrum was ruptured due to the assault. It is a condition in which a hole forms in the thin tissue that separates the ear canal from the middle ear. It can lead to hearing loss and make the middle ear vulnerable to infections.
His mother filed a complaint with the police in which she said that her son, Anirudh Tiwari, was talking during his English class on September 11 which infuriated his teacher.&nbsp;
"The teacher, Shiv Lal Jaiswal, started thrashing Anirudh and continued to slap him even after he pleaded that blood was oozing out of his ear. Anirudh was taken to a doctor who found that his eardrum was ruptured," she was quoted as saying by Times of India.
An FIR had been lodged against the teacher under relevant sections and the statements of the principal, teacher and students would be taken soon, said police.

Tensions flared between India and Canada following Trudeau's explosive allegations of the "potential" involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani extremist Nijjar in Canada.&nbsp;

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday said that the Canadian allegations with regard to the death of a Khalistani separatist was discussed during his meeting with the Secretary of State Antony Blinken a day earlier and noted that the two delegations came out better informed after the meeting.
&ldquo;Yes, I did,&rdquo; Jaishankar said in response to a question during his appearance at the prestigious Hudson Institute think-tank when asked if the issue of Canadian allegations came up during his meeting with Blinken at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the State Department.
The US side shared its assessments on this whole situation and he explained to the Americans a summary of India&rsquo;s concerns. &ldquo;I think hopefully we both came out better informed,&rdquo; Jaishankar said.
Jaishankar said that for India, Canada has become a country where organized crime from India mixed with trafficking in people, mixed with secessionism and violence which is a very toxic combination of issues that people who have found operating space.
He acknowledged that there has been a lot between India and Canada on this issue preceding the remarks of the Canadian prime minister.
The minister alleged that the security situation in Canada is not good. There are open threats against Indian diplomats, and they don&rsquo;t feel safe. As a result, India has had to put a halt to its visa section. In Canada, he said, extremists and people are openly advocating violence and they have been given operating space in Canada.

The Law Commission is working on a formula to synchronise all assembly polls by extending or reducing the tenure so that all state elections can be held along with the Lok Sabha polls 2029 onwards, sources said on Friday.
As the government has already set up a high-level panel to explore simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha, state assemblies and local bodies, the Law Commission may also be asked to include the third tier of elections along with its current mandate for national and state-level polls.
The sources also said the law panel is devising a mechanism to ensure a common electoral roll for Lok Sabha, assemblies and local bodies to reduce cost and use of manpower for undertaking an almost identical exercise which is carried out now by the Election Commission and various state election commissions.
The Law Commission's report on simultaneous polls is not ready as some issues are yet to be settled, the sources pointed out.

A 17-year-old girl died right outside a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri, allegedly after the staff removed her from there after treating her for two days.
A disturbing video shows the seemingly lifeless girl collapsed over the seat of a motorcycle as a woman accompanying her cries &ndash;- apparently on realising that the girl is now dead.
The authorities have suspended Radha Swami Hospital&rsquo;s licence and sealed the premises over the incident in Mainpuri's Ghiror town on Thursday. Her family said she was given &ldquo;wrong treatment&rdquo; at the private hospital.
The clip showed a man and a woman &ndash; possibly staff members &ndash; going back up the stairs of the hospital. They had apparently brought her outside up to her relatives&rsquo; motorcycle.
&ldquo;Tumne bahar nikal ke dal diya patient,&rdquo; a man is heard saying, accusing them of removing the girl from the hospital even before a vehicle was arranged for her.
The girl appears lifeless. Her back is arched backwards as she is seated on the motorcycle, supported by a man, possibly a relative. Moments later, a woman relative realises that the girl, now sprawled along both seats of the bike, is dead. No hospital staff is around.
