Hizbul Mujahideen Militant Sentenced to 10 Years in Moradabad

Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh: A significant judgment was delivered by the Moradabad court as Hizbul Mujahideen militant Ulfat Hussain received a ten-year rigorous imprisonment sentence for his role in terrorist activities. The verdict, shared by Additional District Government Counsel Suresh Singh, was pronounced on Monday. Additional District and Sessions Judge Chhaya Sharma also levied a fine of Rs 48,000 on Hussain in her judgment.

Ulfat Hussain, also known as Mohammad Saiful Islam, hails from Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir and has been associated with terror-related activities since 2002. Despite being granted bail in 2008, Hussain absconded, leading to his long-term evasion of justice. In an effort to apprehend him, the Moradabad court had issued permanent warrants in 2015 and again in 2025, alongside a reward offer of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Determined efforts culminated in his arrest on March 8, 2025, during a coordinated operation by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad and Katghar Police in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. Following his capture, Hussain was transferred to Moradabad jail, marking a significant victory in the fight against terrorism. This operation underscores the collaborative efforts of different agencies in bringing fugitives to justice.
