Two killed, four injured in Jharkhand goods train collision

Two people were killed and four others injured early Tuesday morning in a head-on collision between two goods trains in Sahebganj district, Jharkhand.

The accident occurred around 3 am near Bhognadih in the Barhait police station area, involving trains operated by NTPC, a major power corporation.

The tracks on which the accident occurred are owned by NTPC, and they are primarily used for transporting coal to the company's power plants.

Kishore Tirkey, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Sahebganj, confirmed to PTI that both train drivers died in the head-on collision.

Kausik Mitra, an Eastern Railway spokesperson, clarified, "The goods trains and the track both belong to the NTPC. It has nothing to do with the Indian Railways."

The railway line on which the accident occurred connects NTPC’s Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Station in Bihar's Bhagalpur district to the Farakka Power Plant in Murshidabad district, West Bengal.
