Tungnath, highest Shiva temple in Uttarakhand has tilted by 5 to 6 degrees: ASI

A recent study conducted by the Archeological Survey of India has found that Tungnath, the world's highest Shiva temple situated in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand at a height of 12,800 feet is inclining into the ground.

Multiple reports citing the ASI survey say, the main temple structure has tilted by 5 to 6 degrees while idols and other small structures have inclined by 10 degrees.

The ASI Dehradun officials have placed glass scales on the walls of the temple to track the movement of the structure, as the per Times of India.

Meanwhile, the govt body officials have written to the Centre, suggesting that the shrine be included in the protected monuments list.
