Tripura Minister Accuses Tipra Motha Supporters of Arson

Agartala, Sep 25 (PTI) — Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma has accused supporters of the Tipra Motha Party of setting a BJP office on fire, asserting that such attacks cannot weaken the saffron party in the northeastern state. The incident occurred on Tuesday night at Mandwai.

Debbarma warned of severe consequences for those responsible for the arson. Tipra Motha is a coalition partner in the BJP-led government in Tripura.

According to the minister, the fire destroyed furniture, party flags, and cutouts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manik Saha. "A group of Tipra Motha Party supporters set ablaze the BJP party office at Mandwai by pouring petrol," Debbarma claimed.

He assured that those involved would face repercussions. Debbarma visited the damaged BJP office in Mandwai, located in West Tripura district, on Wednesday.

The minister stated that a complaint has been filed at the local police station, urging the swift arrest of the perpetrators. "The people who set the party office on fire will be arrested.

The police will act as per the law. Those attempting to create unrest in the state will not be spared," he said.

Recently, Chief Minister Manik Saha criticized the Tipra Motha Party for attacks on BJP workers and journalists in Hezamara, West Tripura.
