Trinamool Congress Criticizes PM Modi's Independence Day Speech

New Delhi, Aug 15 (PTI) — The Trinamool Congress has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he used his Independence Day address to introduce a new adversary, referring this time to "infiltrators".

Trinamool Congress' Rajya Sabha deputy leader Sagarika Ghose took to X to voice her criticism, accusing Prime Minister Modi of "over-promising and under-achieving". During his address on India's 79th Independence Day, Modi spoke of a deliberate plot aimed at altering the nation's demographic landscape through illegal infiltration. He declared that no country can accept intruders and unveiled a high-powered demographic mission to address the situation.

"As usual, Prime Minister Narendra Modi uses his Independence Day speech to identify a new 'enemy'. After targeting Andolanjeevis, the focus is now on 'infiltrators'. Again, new 'missions' have been announced while also pointing fingers at past administrations," Ghose remarked in her post on X.

She questioned, "When will Modi deliver an August 15 address that truthfully reflects his own 11-year record, characterized by over-promising and under-achieving?"

During his speech from the Red Fort, PM Modi stated that his government has resolved to initiate a high-powered demographic mission that will address the consequences of illegal infiltration.
