Train Services Restored in Northeast India Post Landslide

Guwahati, July 4 (PTI): Train connectivity to Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and Assam's Barak Valley was reinstated on Friday, following a brief halt caused by a landslide in Dima Hasao district, an official statement confirmed.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) issued a release announcing the successful restoration of services in the Lumding-Badarpur hill section earlier in the day.

"Train operations through this section commenced this morning around 09:42 hours. The first train that traversed the restored segment was Train No 12520, the Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express," stated the NFR.

The prior day's operations were obstructed between Dihakho and Mupa stations due to landslide-triggered boulders obstructing the tracks.

Overnight endeavors ensured the swift clearance of debris, allowing for the safe restoration of the railway line, as conveyed in the NFR statement.

Furthermore, essential provisions such as food and water were distributed to passengers who had been stranded, the statement revealed.

Meanwhile, trains that were earlier rescheduled or regulated at various points have resumed their regular journeys, the statement added.
