Tragic Accident in Raisen, MP: Three Dead, One Injured in Car Fire

Raisen (MP), Aug 26 (PTI) – In a tragic accident, three individuals lost their lives and one more sustained injuries after their car crashed into a culvert and subsequently caught fire in Madhya Pradesh's Raisen district, as per police reports on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 6 PM on Monday near Silari village on National Highway 45, approximately 90 kilometers from the district headquarters. The car's driver was reportedly attempting to avoid a cow.

The collision was devastating, leaving the front of the vehicle completely crushed and trapping the four occupants inside, police informed. The four family members were traveling back to Indore from Narsinghpur when they met with this unfortunate accident, said Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Kunwar Singh Mukati.

After striking the culvert, the car ignited, trapping all four people inside. Local residents, with assistance from police, managed to douse the flames.

Responding swiftly, SDOP Mukati, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Santosh Mudgal, and other officials reached the scene. The occupants were rescued only after extensive efforts, which included cutting through two of the vehicle's doors.

Pradeep Kumar Garhwal (50) and Ravi Kumar Garhwal (70) were declared dead at the scene. Laxmibai Garhwal (45) succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The severely injured driver, Sumit Garhwal, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Bhopal, officials stated. A case has been registered regarding the accident.
