The UGC has asked universities and colleges across the country to set up selfie points at strategic locations in the campus to raise awareness among youngsters about India's achievements in various fields, according to officials.
The institutions can only put up the selfie points in accordance with the approved designs in 3D layouts shared by the Ministry of Education.
"These selfie points will not only serve as a source of pride, but also enlighten every citizen about the transformative initiatives that have propelled India's growth on the global stage. Students and visitors should be encouraged to capture and share these special moments on social media platforms, fostering a sense of collective pride," University Grants Commission (UGC) Secretary Manish Joshi said.
He explained that the themes for the selfie points encompass a broad spectrum of national initiatives, such as "Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat", and the major thrust areas of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.
"There is a unique opportunity to harness the energy and enthusiasm of youngsters, moulding their minds with inspiration drawn from India's progress in diverse fields. The selfie points in these institutions will emerge as a dynamic and engaging place to instill a sense of national pride and awareness among youngsters and inspire future generations," Joshi said.

Demanding stringent action against the non-local student, protests were held at the NIT-Srinagar on Tuesday over the social media post that has allegedly hurting religious sentiments.&nbsp;

A protest march was taken out in the Kashmir University and Islamic University campus against a social media post of a non-local student of the National Institute of Technology that has allegedly hurt religious sentiments.
The march was taken out in the Kashmir university complex, located in the Hazratbal area of the city, after the Friday prayers.
The march was peaceful and the protesters raised slogans in favour of Prophet Mohammad. A similar protest was held at the Islamic university in Awantipora.&nbsp;
They said the protesters, including female students, were not allowed to move outside the main gate of the university. They later dispersed peacefully.
Protests were held at the NIT, Srinagar on Tuesday over the social media post that has allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The protesters demanded stringent action against the non-local student, who has been sent home on leave.
Police have filed a case against the student for promoting religious enmity between communities.
The NIT was closed for winter vacation on Thursday, 10 days ahead of the schedule, as a precautionary measure.
Protests were also held at the Amar Singh College and the Islamia College here on Wednesday against the social media post.

Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s vigilance department has arrested a senior Enforcement Directorate official for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rupees 20 lakh.&nbsp;
The Indian Express reported that the Madurai branch of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption apprehended the Enforcement Directorate official Ankit Tiwari on the Dindigul-Madurai highway on the intervening night of December 1.
The report said that Tiwari had previously served in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, was allegedly caught after the individual who offered him the bribe alerted the vigilance sleuths.&nbsp;
The arrest came at a time when the ED, which is a central agency, has been actively pursuing cases against Tamil Nadu ministers and senior state government officials.

Forty-eight private schools in Bengaluru on Friday morning received an email with a bomb threat on its premises, triggering panic among the staff and parents, police said.
The school authorities immediately alerted police, who reached the institutions concerned with the bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage check teams, they said.
The students and staff were immediately evacuated from the school premises, police said, adding no suspicious objects have been found yet and prima facie, it looks like it's a hoax message.
"So far, 48 schools in Bengaluru have received an email about bomb threat. The message about a bomb threat was received from an email id. Search operations are almost over and so far, our teams have not found any suspicious objects on any of the school premises. Prime facie, it appears to be a hoax message. We are also in the process of registering a case in this regard and a thorough investigation is underway," a senior police officer said.
Students had already reached schools when they got to know about the email threat. Parents rushed to schools from their respective offices and homes in panic to get their children back home safely. Some of these students from different schools which received bomb threats said they had exams scheduled for the day.
"The email claimed that explosives had been planted on school premises. We received a call from the command centre and immediately rushed our teams to schools which are located in different parts of the city. All students and staff have been safely evacuated from the school premises and a thorough search operation was carried out," another senior officer said.
Parents need not panic, our teams are on the ground, he said.
Earlier in the day, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda said, some schools in Bengaluru received threat emails. Bomb detection and disposal squads were sent to all these schools, and most likely it seemed to be a hoax.
"Earlier, also similar threat letters and emails had come to schools and they were found to be a hoax for mischief and police had identified those behind it. Police are verifying today's mails too... officials and personnel have gone to all these spots. I appeal to people not to worry, as most likely all these are hoax calls (mails)," he said.
Last year also, some miscreants sent such emails claiming about a bomb threat to schools in Bengaluru, which later turned out to be a hoax message, police said.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he has asked police to seriously investigate the e-mail and its source, and provide adequate security to schools and temples as a precautionary measure.
"I have spoken to police officers and I have instructed them to take adequate security measures at all places, to remain cautious, and to find out those behind it. There is no need for anyone to worry. I have asked security to be tightened, and checks to be conducted at schools which have received threats," he added.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited one of the schools which received the bomb threat. He took information from the school and the police about the situation. "I was a bit dismayed after seeing the news on TV, as some schools I know and the one near my house were also mentioned. So I went out to check. The police have shown me the mail. Prima facie, it appears to be fake (hoax). I spoke to the police... But we should be cautious. Parents are a bit worried, no need to worry. Police are looking into it," he said. Shivakumar appealed to parents not to worry and said their children would be safe.
"Some mischief mongers might have done this, in 24 hours we will nab them. Cyber crime police are active; they are doing their job... We should also be cautious and should not neglect," he added.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said the message had come from email id kharijites@beeble.com. The email says bombs have been placed in about 15 schools in Bengaluru and threatened to kill children and staff.
"We are seriously verifying it and its source. I have spoken to the Commissioner and officials and have given the necessary instructions and verification on whether it's true or hoax and measures to be taken accordingly.
"We will verify as to who is behind it and if there is the involvement of any terrorist organisation, and take measures accordingly. For now, it cannot be said who is behind it. The message in the email asks people to convert and other things, it will be verified," he told reporters here.
The home minister recalled that last year, too, a similar threat had come. It was a hoax. This also may be a hoax, but we won't take it lightly. Even if there is one per cent (doubt), we will take it seriously and take measures like sensitising the intelligence and informing central agencies, which the department has to do.
Stating that he is in regular touch with officials and, if necessary, will hold a meeting with senior officials, Parameshwara appealed to parents and the public not to worry. "First we will focus on checking and clearing in 15 schools, and will look into other schools later with jurisdiction police station officials visiting them," he added.&nbsp;

Bhardwaj said the Board does not calculate, declare or inform the percentage of marks.
"If the percentage of marks is required for higher education or in employment, the calculation if any, may be done by the admitting institution or employer," he said.
Earlier, the CBSE also did away with the practice of issuing merit lists to avoid unhealthy competition.

Ernakulam DCC president Mohammed Shiyas alleged the Ministry had initially granted permission for the aircraft's landing at the Naval facility but later withdrew it.
Consequently, the aircraft, carrying Gandhi from Kannur, was directed to the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in nearby Nedumbassery, he told PTI.
An official source told PTI that the decision regarding granting permission for the landing of private jets at the Naval Station was made by the Defence Ministry. He, however, did not elaborate.
The former Congress chief, currently touring Kerala, has two programmes scheduled in Kochi on Friday.

At least eight people including three women and a child were killed and several others injured when their vehicle hit a stationary truck in Odisha&rsquo;s Keonjhar district early Friday, police said.
The accident took place on National Highway 20 near Balijodi village in Ghatagon area when the occupants of the vehicle were going to visit a temple.
While seven people died on the spot, another succumbed at a hospital.
Five of the injured people were undergoing treatment at Keonjhar district headquarters hospital, while three others were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.
A total of 20 people from Pudamari village in Ganjam district were on their way to have a darshan of Goddess Trarini, police said.
It is suspected that the driver dozed off leading to the accident that took place barely three km away from the temple.
The police have started an investigation.

Traffic restrictions have been imposed on Yamuna and Noida-Greater Noida Expressways in view of the UP International Trade Show and MotoGP event.

Traffic restrictions have been announced on Yamuna and Noida-Greater Noida Expressways for five days starting from September 21 in view of the UP International Trade Show and the MotoGP event.
While the five-day trade show will be held at the India Expo Centre, the MotoGP event will be held at the Buddha International Circuit from September 22 to 24.
The restricted route encompasses the initial 25 km of the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and a further 10 km of the Yamuna Expressway.
There is a complete ban on buses, autos, e-rickshaws and heavy vehicles. Movement of non-commercial vehicles could also be restricted based on traffic congestion and VIP movements.

Tamil Nadu vigilance police search ED office in Madurai after arresting officer in bribery case

Ankit Tiwari was arrested on December 1 for allegedly taking bribe from a doctor by Tamil Nadu police.&nbsp;

Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption continued searches at the ED sub-zonal office in Madurai on Saturday in connection with the case involving ED officer Ankit Tiwari who was arrested a day before for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a doctor.
The arrested ED official has been sent to judicial custody till December 15, NDTV said.
The arrest comes as the Tamil Nadu government and the Enforcement Directorate face-off in the Madras High Court over the latter's summons to five district collectors.

The report of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee recommending the expulsion of Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in a "cash-for-query" case will be tabled in the lower house of Parliament on Monday.
According to the agenda papers circulated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Ethics Committee chairperson Vinod Kumar Sonkar will lay on the table of the House the panel's first report.
The committee, at a meeting on November 9, adopted its report recommending Moitra's expulsion from the Lok Sabha over the "cash-for-query" allegation.
Six members of the panel voted in favour of the report, including Congress MP Preneet Kaur who had earlier been suspended from the party. Four members of the panel belonging to opposition parties submitted dissent notes.
The opposition members termed the report a "fixed match" and said the complaint filed by BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey, which the panel reviewed, was not supported by a "shred of evidence".
Moitra can be expelled only if the House votes in favour of the panel's recommendation.
The Winter Session of Parliament begins on Monday and is scheduled to continue till December 22.&nbsp;

BSP MP Danish Ali on Friday alleged that attempts are being made to turn the victim into an accused by using "fabricated charges" against him over his complaint against BJP member Ramesh Bidhuri for making objectionable remarks in Lok Sabha.
In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Ali said he was "shocked" over clubbing of his complaint against Bidhuri with the ones levelled against him for allegedly provoking the BJP MP.
He said while he was hoping for a swift, strict and exemplary action against Bidhuri, he was sad that attempts were being made to turn the victim into an accused.
Ali shared a copy of the letter on social media.
The panel had issued notices to Ali and Bidhuri on November 21. Ali wrote to Birla on Friday.
The Privileges Committee of Lok Sabha has summoned &nbsp;Bidhuri and Ali on December 7 at separate time.
On an earlier occasion, Bidhuri had not appeared before the committee while expressing his inability to do so.
Bidhuri had made remarks against Ali during the Special session of Parliament in September when the House was discussing the success of the Chandrayan-III mission.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had referred the MPs' complaints on the issue involving Bidhuri's use of objectionable words against Ali to the Privileges Committee in September.
While Ali and several other opposition MPs, including Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and DMK's Kanimozhi, had demanded action against Bidhuri, several BJP parliamentarians like Nishikant Dubey said the BSP member "incited" the South Delhi MP when he speaking in the House and urged the Speaker to look into this aspect as well.&nbsp;

While attending the COP28 climate summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed that India host its 2028 edition.

Asserting that the world does not have much time to correct the mistakes of the last century, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced a &lsquo;Green Credit Initiative&rsquo; focused on creating carbon sinks through people's participation and also proposed to host the UN climate conference in 2028, or COP33, in India.
Addressing the high-level segment for heads of state and governments during the UN climate conference (COP28), Modi called for a pro-planet proactive and positive initiative and said the Green Credits Initiative goes beyond the commercial mindset associated with carbon credits.
"It focuses on creating carbon sinks through people's participation and I invite all of you to join this initiative," he said, stressing that the world does not have much time to correct the mistakes of the last century.
This initiative is similar to the Green Credit Programme, notified domestically in October. It is an innovative market-based mechanism designed to reward voluntary environmental actions in different sectors by individuals, communities and the private sector.
Asserting that India has presented a great example to the world of striking balance between development and environment conservation, the Prime Minister said, India is among the only few countries in the world on track to achieve its Nationally Determined Contributions or the national action plans to restrict global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, the guardrail to avoid worsening of the impact of the changing climate.
Modi was the only leader to join COP28 President Sultan Al Jaber on the stage along with the UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Steill at the opening plenary.
"Over the past century, a small section of humanity has indiscriminately exploited nature. However, the entire humanity is paying the price for this, especially people living in the Global South," he said.
"Thinking only about our own interests will only lead the world into darkness," the prime minister added.
Modi&rsquo;s statement came in the context that the poor and developing nations bear the brunt of extreme climate events such as floods, droughts, heat/cold waves as a result of changing climate due to historic carbon emissions by the richer countries that have led to increased global warming.
The Prime Minister called for maintaining a balance between mitigation and adaptation and said that energy transition across the world must be &ldquo;just and inclusive.&rdquo; He also called rich countries to transfer technologies to help developing nations combat climate change.
Modi has been championing the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE movement), which he had announced at the Glasgow COP in 2021), urging countries to adopt planet-friendly living practices and move away from deeply consumerist behaviour.
Citing a study by the International Energy Agency, Modi said, &ldquo;This approach (LiFE) can reduce carbon emissions by 2 billion tonnes.&rdquo; He called on the countries to work together and be decisive against the climate crisis.
"We shall cooperate with each other and shall support each other. We need to give all developing countries our fair share in the global carbon budget," Modi said.
If India's proposal to host COP33 is accepted, it would be the next big global conference in the country after the G20 Summit earlier this year.
India hosted COP8 in New Delhi in 2002 where countries adopted the Delhi Ministerial Declaration which called for efforts by developed countries to transfer technology and minimise the impact of climate change on developing countries.
Climate science defines carbon budget as the amount of greenhouse gases that can be emitted for a given level of global warming (1.5 degrees Celsius in this case).
Developed countries have already consumed more than 80 per cent of the global carbon budget, leaving developing and poor countries with very little carbon space for the future. Modi highlighted that India is home to 17 per cent of the world's population, but its share of global carbon emissions is less than 4 per cent.
"India is one of the very few economies in the world that is on track to achieve its NDC targets," he said.
India achieved its emissions intensity-related targets 11 years ahead of the committed time frame and non-fossil fuel targets nine years ahead of schedule.
"And India did not just stop there, we remain ambitious," he said.
The country aims to reduce emissions intensity of gross domestic product by 45 per cent by 2030 from 2005 levels and achieve 50 per cent cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2030.
It has also committed to become a net zero economy by 2070.
As part of its G20 Presidency this year, India drew consensus from the world&rsquo;s major economies for a Green Development Pact seeking to balance development and the environment.
The Pact shifted the conversations from the billions to the trillions needed for the energy transition. It noted that developing countries will need USD 5.8-5.9 trillion in the pre-2030 period, particularly to implement their NDCs.&nbsp;
