Terrorist Yasin Malik pleads guilty but Islamic nations' group OIC slams Indian court. Modi govt responds

India hit back at a group of Islamic nations after it criticised the court judgment against Kashmiri terrorist Yasin Malik. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, or OIC, called the conviction and life imprisonment of Malik "illegal", and the charges "concocted".

This, despite the fact that Malik pleaded guilty to the charges during the trial in an NIA court. The Indian government called the OIC's Human Rights Commission's comments "unacceptable".

The Indian foreign ministry said, "India finds unacceptable the comments made by OIC-IPHRC today criticising India for the judgement in the case of Yasin Malik. Through these comments, OIC-IPHRC has implicitly expressed support for the terrorist activities of Yasin Malik, which were documented and presented in the Court. The world seeks zero tolerance of terrorism and we urge OIC not to justify it any manner."

On May 25, Yasin Malik was sentenced to life in prison in a terror funding case.
The National Investigation Agency, which probed the case, had sought the death sentence.
