Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Tuesday that private schools will also be linked to Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) to improve the school education system.
Stating that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the Gujarat model of VSK, Dhami said here that about 16,000 schools have been linked to the initiative, and soon all the private schools of the state will also be linked to it.
VSK is a digital infrastructure ecosystem that tracks and analyses data about student enrolment, attendance, academic performance and teacher training to help administrators monitor school education progress.
Referring to the extensive reforms in the education system in the country, the CM said that the state government was the first in the country to implement the new education policy.
He said that 141 PM Shri schools and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Schools are being constructed in the state, while virtual classrooms have also been arranged in 500 schools in all 13 districts.
Dhami said that NCERT books have been implemented in all government schools to ensure quality education.
The state CM said that scholarships are being given to meritorious students of Class 6 to 12 of government and private schools of the state, while a scheme has been started to send meritorious students of Class 10 and 12 on India tour.
Dhami also said that the state government is paying special attention to sports in the state, and an initiative has been taken to provide government jobs to players who win medals at the national level.
The CM made these announcements while speaking in a programme at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Dehradun district's Manduwala village.&nbsp;

Uttar Pradesh's first State Institute of Hotel Management is set to be ready within four months in Gorakhpur, the state government said on Tuesday.
The government said in recent years, Gorakhpur has witnessed rapid growth in the tourism and hospitality sector, with the entry of several renowned hotel and restaurant brands and many more in the pipeline.
Recognising the growing demand for skilled professionals in this sector, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is establishing Uttar Pradesh's first State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) in Gorakhpur, it said in a statement.
"Located opposite the GIDA office, over 85 per cent of the institute's construction is complete. The project is scheduled to be finished by September, and diploma and degree programmes in hotel and tourism management will commence from the next academic session," the government said.
A flagship initiative of the Department of Tourism, the institute is being constructed by C&amp;DS Unit-14. Work on this Rs 3.38-crore project began on September 26, 2023, and over Rs 35 crore has already been spent, it said.
The first phase includes the development of administrative offices, classrooms, a common hall, training kitchens, underground parking, electrification, fire safety systems, and pipelines across two blocks, it added.
Deputy Director of Tourism Ravindra Kumar Mishra confirmed that all efforts are being made to complete the construction by September.
He added that the next academic session will introduce hotel, tourism, and hospitality management courses aligned with global standards.
"With this, local youth will gain access to employment-oriented education, further enhancing career opportunities in the hospitality industry as tourism flourishes in Gorakhpur under the visionary leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath," he said.
The project's second phase involves the construction of boys' and girls' hostels, which is estimated to cost Rs 46.81 crore. The e-tendering process for this phase is currently underway, he added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday invoked a philosophical reflection and said Pakistan's fate is to perish whether at the hands of India or due to the very terrorism it has nurtured and harboured.
Addressing a gathering at an event to mark 25 years of KN Memorial hospital, Adityanath said a seed turning into a tree reflects a flourishing culture, while a seed decaying and perishing without growth signifies a perversion of nature.
"It is rightly said that the transformation of a seed into a tree is culture and its rotting away is a distortion," the chief minister said.
He emphasised that India has always stood as a symbol of a culture that guides humanity and offers hope to the world.
"India represents a civilisation that will continue to shine as a beacon of hope for the world, offering spiritual and moral guidance," he said.
In sharp contrast, the chief minister described Pakistan as a "distortion" whose destiny is to "samaapt ho jaana" (perish).
"Pakistan wah vikriti hai jiski niyati marna hai... jiski niyati sadna hai chahe bharat ke haathon mare, chahe apne dwara paalit-poshit atankwadiyon ki kritiyon se mare. Yah tai hai niyati me jo likha hai hoga," (Pakistan represents that distortion whose fate is to perish and rot &mdash; whether die at the hands of India or due to the very terrorism it has nurtured and harboured. It is preordained that destiny will play out as written," Adityanath said.
He said Operation Sindoor has been a symbol of India's self-respect, the dignity of the sindoor (vermillion) of India's mother power and a guarantee of the safety of the future generation.
"You must have seen that no matter what Pakistan and its supporters were doing, India did what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the countrymen of -- to protect its honour and pride," he said.
"And as the country's Defence Minister (Rajnath Singh), the task of eliminating the enemy with the bravery of our soldiers was done through Operation Sindoor. Today, for the first time after this operation, the defence minister has arrived in Lucknow, so naturally, on his arrival in Lucknow, I welcome and congratulate him on behalf of the state government and the people of Uttar Pradesh," Adityanath said.
Rajnath Singh is a BJP MP from Lucknow.
About the 25-year journey of the hospital, he said in the year 2000, the then chief minister Rajnath Singh laid its foundation stone.
"With its new identity as a hospital and as a medical college in Barabanki, it is moving ahead in the field of health care and contributing to the development of Uttar Pradesh by achieving the goal of the health of the people in the state," he added.&nbsp;

Besides ensuring safer and more convenient travel for pilgrims, the initiative also aims to establish Uttar Pradesh as the leading destination on the global religious tourism map.
Devotees and travellers will benefit from this plan, especially, in terms of better transportation facilities. This will reduce their travel time and make their journeys easier, safer, and more organised, the statement said. The project focuses on improving connectivity and enhancing the appearance of sacred routes linking major pilgrimage destinations such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Naimisharanya, and Mirzapur, the statement said, adding that priority has been given to widening, strengthening, and constructing these routes during the financial year 2025-26.
According to the Public Works Department&rsquo;s (PWD) plan, 272 projects will be completed under this initiative, the statement mentioned.
The strengthening works for roads connecting important religious sites across the state are approved by the state government, the PWD plan states.
Priority is being given to developing, reconstructing, and strengthening those roads that have the highest number of visitors.
For the 272 planned projects, the main focus is on the roads that see an average annual traffic of around 5 lakh devotees.
The projects include widening roads, repairing surfaces, building sidewalks, strengthening carriageways, lane marking, beautification, expansion, improving traffic management, and promoting road safety standards.
Special attention is being given to routes where land acquisition can be minimised to ensure smoother progress.&nbsp;

This accounts for 68 per cent of the total 1,85,675 allocated seats, it said in a statement, asserting that full transparency was maintained in the entire process.
The government said it received 3,34,953 applications, of which 2,52,269 were approved. From the approved list, 1,85,675 children were allotted schools and over 1.26 lakh of them have been enrolled.
Uttar Pradesh's Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said, "This figure is a ray of hope for the poor. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, we are strengthening the foundation of social justice in the education sector." The government aims to ensure that every child, regardless of their social or economic background, has access to quality education, he added.
The top-performing districts for RTE enrollments include Basti (94 per cent), Lalitpur and Firozabad (93 per cent), Balrampur and Pratapgarh (92 per cent), Shravasti and Hardoi (91 per cent), and Etah, Deoria, and Jaunpur (88 per cent each).

One more policeman has been placed under suspension in connection with the recent allegation of custodial harassment of a Dalit woman at a police station here, Home Department sources said on Wednesday.
The departmental action was taken against Prasanna Kumar, an assistant sub-inspector who was serving as the GD charge at the Peroorkkada Police Station, based on a preliminary inquiry report submitted by the assistant commissioner, Cantonment Division, they said.
A sub-inspector from the station had already been suspended in this regard.
Thirty-nine-year-old R Bindhu, a local domestic worker, made serious allegations against Kumar, including misbehaviour, ill-treatment, and the use of objectionable words, after he took her into custody in connection with a theft case that was later proven to be false.
Based on the enquiry, it is found that the policeman has failed to comply with the procedural guidelines and ensure proper entries on the GD when the petitioner was detained in the police station, the suspension order issued by the city police commissioner said.
"The enquiry report revealed that the conduct of the officer was unprofessional and beyond the scope of his duty," the order, dated May 19, further said.
Kumar was suspended with immediate effect, and an oral enquiry has been initiated against him, it added.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday described the alleged custodial harassment of the Dalit woman at the police station as "unacceptable".
The complainant woman has accused the police of harassment and the CMO of not taking action on her complaint, after the theft case registered against her proven to be baseless.
The woman's claims of being detained overnight at the police station without food or sleep and being asked to drink toilet water by police personnel have sparked widespread outrage.
Bindhu alleged that she endured severe mental torture and harassment in custody at the Peroorkkada police station last month. This followed a complaint by her employer, accusing her of stealing a gold chain.

In a major initiative in this direction, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur released a comprehensive research report titled "Juvenile Delinquency and Institutional Framework: An Evaluation of Restoration Mechanisms under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 in Punjab."
The event witnessed the presence of Special Chief Secretary, Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Mrs. Raji P. Shrivastava; Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Mr. Kanwardeep Singh; Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Karamjeet Singh; Director, Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Dr. Shena Aggarwal; Secretary of the Punjab State Child Rights Commission, Mrs. Vimmi Bhullar; and Joint Director, Mr. Rajwinder Singh Gill, among others.
The Cabinet Minister informed that this research project was commissioned by the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to Punjabi University, Patiala, with the objective of conducting a comprehensive state-wide evaluation of the restoration procedures and institutional responses under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Further elaborating, Dr. Baljit Kaur mentioned that the report, authored by Principal Investigator and Assistant Professor Dr. Gautam Sood, with contributions from gender specialist Dr. Prerna Singh and research assistant Mrs. Jasmeen Kaur, presents an in-depth, state-wide study. It evaluates institutional frameworks and rehabilitation mechanisms available for children in conflict with the law under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Baljit Kaur reaffirmed the Punjab Government&rsquo;s unwavering commitment to child protection and reiterated the state&rsquo;s resolve to act upon the key recommendations of the report.
&ldquo;This study brings essential focus on the gaps and opportunities within our juvenile justice system. Its findings will lead us in enhancing rehabilitation responses to juvenile offences in Punjab,&rdquo; said the Minister.
Presenting the study&rsquo;s key highlights, Dr. Gautam Sood emphasized the importance of capacity building, service convergence, and sensitization of stakeholders. He stated, &ldquo;This evaluation highlights the critical role of institutional coordination, community-based interventions, and the fundamental values of restorative justice for children in conflict with the law.&rdquo;
Commending the research team&rsquo;s efforts, Chairperson Mr. Kanwardeep Singh remarked that the report underscores the need to deepen the integration of child rights within the justice system. He stressed that every child, irrespective of their involvement in any judicial process, must have their rights fully protected.

In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Batala Police has busted a Pak-ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module&mdash; being operated by foreign-based handlers Maninder Billa and Mannu Agwan on the directions of terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda&mdash; with the arrest of its six members involved in an attempted grenade attack outside a liquor vend in Batala, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Tuesday.
As per the information, some unidentified bike-borne youth had lobbed a hand grenade outside a liquor vend in the Focal Point area of Batala on May 17, 2025, which failed to explode due to faulty assembly, preventing any untoward incident.
Those arrested have been identified as Jatin Kumar, alias Rohan, Barinder Singh alias Sajan, Abraham alias Rohit and Sunil Kumar, all residents of Shukarpura in Batala; Rahul Masih of Harnam Nagar of Batala and Sohit of Qila Des Raj of Batala. Police teams have also recovered one .30 bore pistol from their possession.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the arrested accused persons were receiving direct instructions from Portugal-based Maninder Billa and BKI mastermind Mannu Agwan, who has recently assumed operational charge after the arrest of Happy Passian in the USA.
He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the module had been directed by its foreign handlers to lob a grenade at any liquor vendor with the intent to spread fear among contractors, thereby creating a conducive environment for extortion demands. Further investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages in this case, said the DGP.
Sharing operation details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Batala Suhail Qasim Mir said that following the incident of attempted grenade attack, multiple police teams were tasked to investigate using technical and human intelligence inputs. In a record time, six accused involved in lobbing, logistics and finances were traced and arrested, he added.
The SSP said that during the operation, arrested accused Jatin Kumar alias Rohan, who is the main executor of the attack, sustained bullet injuries in an exchange of fire with police while being taken for recovery of weapon. In bid to escape, the accused opened fire at police team and injured retaliatory fire, he said, while adding that accused Jatin has been admitted at the local Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
He said that probe has found that the grenade had been assembled by the accused based on instructions received via a video call from Maninder Billa and another unknown individual, without any technical knowledge. Due to this, the assembly was faulty and led to the grenade not detonating, he added.
A case FIR No 148 dated May 17, 2025 has already been registered under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at Police Station Civil Lines in Batala, while, sections 111 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 18-B, and 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been added.

The Chief Minister stated that, to date, the state government has provided 54,142 jobs to the youth over the past three years. He noted that today is a red-letter day for those who have secured employment in departments such as Housing, Agriculture, Water Resources, Sports and Youth Services, Local Government, Health and Family Welfare, School Education, Water Supply and Sanitation, and Excise and Taxation. Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized that the state government has surpassed the milestone of providing over 54,000 government jobs through a transparent and merit-based process.
The Chief Minister said that the traditional political parties have blood on their hands, having looted the state&rsquo;s wealth during their regimes. He said that donations, premiums, and similar forms of corruption were rampant under previous governments. In contrast, his administration has taken decisive steps to eliminate every form of corruption and to ensure the delivery of citizen-centric services, added Bhagwant Singh Mann.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister remarked that, ironically, those who assumed power after independence plundered the nation more mercilessly than the colonial rulers. He said the souls of martyrs must be pained to see the youth of Punjab lining up to go abroad and serve those very powers that were ousted during the freedom struggle. While Punjabis once led the charge against colonialism, today they were at the forefront of migration abroad, Bhagwant Singh Mann added.
Expressing pride, the Chief Minister said it is immensely satisfying that around 55,000 youth have been selected for government posts purely on merit. This initiative, he said, is part of a broader strategy to reverse migration and prevent brain drain by opening new opportunities for young people within the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann noted with pleasure that many youth who once planned to move abroad are now preparing for competitive exams to secure government employment.
The chief minister emphasized that all appointments have been made based solely on merit, with candidates emerging successful after clearing rigorous competitive exams. From the beginning, he said, the government&rsquo;s agenda has been to empower youth by providing them with secure jobs, thus making them equal partners in the socio-economic progress of the state and nation. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this employment drive has helped dispel the negativity among youth, leading many to abandon their plans to move abroad.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister questioned why such steps were not taken over the past 75 years, adding that earlier governments failed to act and let the system deteriorate, forcing youth to look outside the country for opportunities. He further stated that Punjab, in addition to being the country&rsquo;s food bowl, has always been the sword arm of India. Its people are globally recognized for their courage, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit, added Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Every inch of Punjab, the Chief Minister said, is sanctified by the footprints of great Gurus, saints, seers, and martyrs who taught us to stand against tyranny, injustice, and oppression. He said that Punjab&rsquo;s cultural richness and hospitality are unmatched, and its people have extraordinary leadership qualities. Now that these youth have become part of the government, Bhagwant Singh Mann urged them to serve the public with a missionary zeal.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that they will use their positions to support the underprivileged and ensure the welfare of all sections of society. He compared the state government&rsquo;s support to airport runways that enable airplanes to take off smoothly. Similarly, the government is helping youth realize their dreams and ambitions, leaving no stone unturned in this noble mission, said Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The chief minister urged the youth to carve out their own identity and strive to leave their mark in society, reminding them that the sky is the limit. Finally, Bhagwant Singh Mann exhorted the youth to remain grounded, even after achieving success, and to believe in the power of hard work&mdash;the sole key to success. He encouraged them to stay in Punjab, where immense opportunities for growth and prosperity await.
The chief minister reaffirmed the government&rsquo;s commitment to driving the state&rsquo;s development and ensuring the prosperity of its people. He said that the state government is committed to the well-being of every section of society, and no stone will be left unturned for it. The security forces also arrested an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) from Langthabal Khunou in Thoubal, a member of the outlawed KCP (Apunba) group from Sawombung area in Imphal East, and a cadre of KCP-PSC (Politburo Standing Committee) from Lamlongei Sabal Leikai in Imphal West.
The arrests were made on Monday and Tuesday, a police officer said.
Arms and ammunition, including pistols, rifles and bombs were also recovered from their possession, he added.

An overground worker of terrorists was killed while two security force personnel were injured in an encounter in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said here.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Kulnar Bazipora in Bandipora district following information about presence of terrorists in the area, the officials said.
They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces' positions.
One terrorist associate and two policemen were injured in the firing by terrorists, the officials said, adding the injured terrorist associate later succumbed to injuries.

Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, said on Wednesday that the terrorists themselves had provided evidence of &lsquo;Operation Sindoor&rsquo; to the world, and that the coffins of those targeted were escorted by Pakistani military officials and politicians.
Addressing a function organised at Vasco in South Goa by the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), Dhankhar said India&rsquo;s precise military strikes during Operation Sindoor gave a befitting message to Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
&ldquo;It has sent a global message. A message that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave to the entire world from the heartland of Bihar that terrorism will no longer go unpunished,&rdquo; the Vice President said.
He called the punishment of the terrorists &ldquo;exemplary&rdquo;.
&ldquo;The strike was deep in the territory beyond the international border. Keeping in mind our ethos, the target was only terrorists. What a satisfaction for everyone,&rdquo; said the Vice President.
After the high achievement of the operation, no one was asking for its proof, he said.
&ldquo;The terrorists (who were targeted) revealed the proof to the entire global fraternity. The coffins were escorted by the military force of that country, the political force of that country and by terrorists,&rdquo; he said.
During Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation for the killing of 26 people in Pahalgam on April 22, Indian armed forces struck terror bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan earlier this month.
Dhankhar said India is emerging as a global economic force and a maritime powerhouse. The country is committed to peace, sustainability and development, he said.
&ldquo;To be a &lsquo;viksit nation&rsquo;, we need an eight-fold increase in per capita income. Economic development cannot take place when we have a war-like situation. Peace is fundamental to growth and development,&rdquo; he said.
Dhankhar said peace comes from strength in security, economy and development, and commitment to the nation.
Officials said during his visit to Vasco, the Vice President dedicated to the nation three projects at Mormugao Port &ndash; a 3 MW solar power plant, commercial operation of two harbour mobile cranes and a covered drone for coal handling.
Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Shripad Naik, Union minister of state for port, shipping and waterways, were present on the occasion.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday engaged directly with citizens who had lodged complaints through the CM Helpline-1905, seeking their feedback and urging officials to resolve pending issues promptly and seriously.&nbsp;
Dhami expressed satisfaction that many complainants&rsquo; problems have already been addressed and emphasized that &ldquo;trust of the public is our biggest inspiration.&rdquo;
He assured the public of the government&rsquo;s commitment to swiftly resolving issues and holding the administration accountable. &ldquo;Our government is working, considering public service as paramount. Our effort is to ensure that no citizen of the state faces any kind of problem. Fixing the accountability of the administration and getting the problems resolved quickly is our priority,&rdquo; he said.
Earlier in the day, Dhami participated in the flag-off ceremony of the third mountaineering expedition &lsquo;Shaurya,&rsquo; organized by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).&nbsp;
The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the brave NDRF personnel embarking on the challenging expedition. &ldquo;I feel very happy that our NDRF&rsquo;s brave soldiers are going to touch the heights of the Himalayas under their third expedition...I wish you all the best for this journey and pray to Baba Kedar, Lord Badri Vishal and Ganga Maiya to make your journey successful and may you all complete this journey safely,&rdquo; he said.
Dhami also laid the foundation stone for a new hostel at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Manduwala, Dehradun. Addressing the students, he highlighted the importance of the hostel in supporting their overall development alongside providing residential facilities.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister congratulated the school for achieving 100 percent results in the recently concluded 10th and 12th board examinations.
He further noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s leadership, significant reforms have transformed the country&rsquo;s education system, with Uttarakhand becoming the first state to implement the new education policy.&nbsp;
The state is currently constructing 141 PM Shri Vidyalayas and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Schools. Additionally, virtual classrooms have been set up in 500 schools across 13 districts, and NCERT books have been made compulsory in all government schools to ensure quality education.

The Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Film Vikas Parishad, Banshidhar Tiwari, recently met actor Sunny Deol and director Anurag Singh on the set of the film Border 2 in Halduwala, Dehradun.&nbsp;
Joint CEO Nitin Upadhyay was also present during the meeting, where discussions focused on Uttarakhand&rsquo;s progressive film policy, the state's diverse shooting locations, and government support for the film industry.
Tiwari highlighted that Uttarakhand&rsquo;s current film policy, developed under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami&rsquo;s leadership, is one of the most forward-thinking in India.&nbsp;
The policy ensures timely shooting permissions, administrative ease, and access to local resources, creating a positive and comfortable environment that makes the state an attractive destination for filmmakers.
Border 2, produced by JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and T-Series, began filming in Dehradun in February. Directed by Anurag Singh, known for the film Kesari, the movie features a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.&nbsp;
Producer Binoy Gandhi explained that the film is based on the Indo-Pak war of 1971, with a large-scale set replicating a Kashmiri village built in Halduwala since November last year.&nbsp;
The film includes detailed war scenes involving tanks and army movements, with significant emphasis on visual effects. The art director is Mayur Sharma, and action direction is handled by Ravi Verma, praised for his previous work in Jat. Approximately 350 local residents are employed daily on this project.
Besides Border 2, Uttarakhand is currently hosting the shoots of several major films. Vinod Bachchan, producer of Tanu Weds Manu, is shooting Ginny Weds Sunny 2 in Dehradun, starring Avinash Tiwari and Medha Shankar, along with veteran actors Govind Namdev and Sudhir Pandey. The comedy satire Uttar Da Puttar, featuring Annu Kapoor, Pawan Malhotra, and Bijendra Kala, is being filmed in Dehradun and Rishikesh.
Supporting regional cinema, three Garhwali-language films&mdash;Marcha, Teri Maya, and Namak&mdash;are currently in production across Dehradun, Tehri, and Uttarkashi. These projects receive strong backing from the state government, which provides technical resources alongside promoting local folk culture, traditions, and dialects, helping to shape a distinct identity for Uttarakhand&rsquo;s regional cinema.
In recent months, Uttarakhand has also seen the completion of several notable Hindi films and web series, including Vicky Vidya Ka Wo Wala Video, Tikadam, Do Patti, Putul, Rautu Ka Raaj, Tanvi the Great, Past Tense, Kesari 2, and Mere Husband Ki Biwi. To date, the state government has issued 225 shooting permissions in 2024 alone.
The Uttarakhand Film Development Council continues to work towards establishing the state as a premier filmmaking destination, where a blend of cultural richness, natural beauty, advanced technology, and streamlined administration offers a unique and welcoming experience for film producers and crews.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a new hostel at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Manduwala, Dehradun.&nbsp;
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he emphasised the institution's role in reviving cultural values and fostering nationalism through education.
&ldquo;After the independence of India, Saraswati Shishu Mandir schools were established to restore cultural values and the spirit of nationalism,&rdquo; CM Dhami said.
Congratulating students of the school for achieving 100 per cent results in the recent Class 10 and 12 board examinations, the Chief Minister said the newly launched hostel would not only offer residential facilities but also contribute to the holistic development of students.
Highlighting recent reforms in education, CM Dhami credited the central leadership for spearheading changes. &ldquo;Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extensive reforms have been made in the education system in the country,&rdquo; he said.
He noted that Uttarakhand was the first state to implement the new National Education Policy. As part of this, 141 PM Shri Vidyalayas and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Schools are being established across the state. Additionally, virtual classrooms have been introduced in 500 schools across all 13 districts, and NCERT books have been made mandatory in all government schools to ensure consistent and quality education.
He also elaborated on student welfare schemes initiated by the state government. &ldquo;Meritorious students of classes 6th to 12th of government and non-government schools of Uttarakhand are being given scholarships under the Chief Minister's Medhavi Chhatra Protsahan Scholarship Scheme,&rdquo; he said. As part of broader student engagement, meritorious students of classes 10 and 12 from each development block are being sent on educational tours across India.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the state's focus on monitoring academic performance. &ldquo;Vidya Samiksha Kendra has also been established in the state with the aim of improving the quality and results of the school education system,&rdquo; he said. Uttarakhand, he added, has become the first state to implement the Gujarat model of the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Vidya Samiksha Kendra, with around 16,000 schools already linked to it. The system will soon cover all private schools, enabling centralised monitoring of teachers, students, and school activities.
Alongside education, Dhami stressed the government&rsquo;s commitment to promoting sports. &ldquo;The state government has constructed stadiums and sports facilities in the state at a cost of crores of rupees,&rdquo; he said. Talented athletes are being supported with scholarships starting from the age of eight, and those enrolled in residential sports colleges are provided with free training, education, accommodation, meals, and kits.
&ldquo;A historic beginning has also been made to give government jobs to the players who bring medals in any national-level competition,&rdquo; Dhami stated. He added that athletes from Uttarakhand had earned over 100 medals in the recently held 38th National Games, marking a major milestone in the state&rsquo;s sports journey.
Referring to the contribution of Vidya Bharati schools across India, Dhami said, &ldquo;More than 12 thousand schools are being run by Vidya Bharati all over India, in which more than 35 lakh students are receiving education.&rdquo; He praised the institutions for combining modern education with moral values, patriotism, Indian culture, and social responsibility.
&ldquo;Character building and the spirit of service are given importance in the schools run by Vidya Bharati,&rdquo; he added.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday engaged with public representatives from all Municipal Corporations and Municipalities during the &ldquo;Shahar Se Samvad&rdquo; programme held at Chief Sevak Sadan. Organised by the Urban Development Department, the event saw the launch of three web portals aimed at supporting women&rsquo;s self-help groups.
According to an official release, CM Dhami announced several new initiatives including the digitisation of municipal offices, construction of Silver Jubilee Parks, and creation of vending zones. He also proposed setting up training programmes for locals to open hi-tech salons&mdash;10 in each municipal corporation, 5 in each municipality, and 3 in each Nagar Panchayat. The state has also sought the Centre&rsquo;s support in untangling tied funds.
The Chief Minister heard concerns raised by mayors and other elected representatives and noted their suggestions. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised the importance of urban governance.
&ldquo;Urban Government, Municipal Corporations and Municipalities are the soul of any city. It not only works to provide basic facilities to the public, but also plays an important role in deciding the direction and condition of a city,&rdquo; he said.
Highlighting infrastructural challenges, he admitted that more progress is needed in areas like drainage, waste management, and traffic congestion. &ldquo;Traffic jams have now become a common challenge in cities, and to control them, the local bodies will also have to make special efforts. Along with this, we will also have to work with a priority towards environmental protection,&rdquo; he added.
The CM called for joint efforts between local bodies and the government. &ldquo;I want to assure you that our government is fully committed to providing all possible assistance to the municipal bodies.&rdquo;
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, he said, &ldquo;Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken India to new heights of development and prosperity by following the principle of &lsquo;Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.&rsquo;&rdquo;
He credited initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission, AMRUT scheme, and Smart City Mission for transforming urban India, and noted the success of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in providing homes to the underprivileged.
Dhami underlined that Uttarakhand is committed to effectively implementing central schemes. &ldquo;Our government has worked to implement various central government schemes effectively in the state. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, every city's solid waste management and sanitation systems are being strengthened.&rdquo;
He also emphasised cultural preservation under the theme &ldquo;Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi,&rdquo; and acknowledged the role of women in the state's progress. &ldquo;The women power of the state is doing excellent work across the state. The products they make are even better than the products of multinational companies. Women's power is the biggest strength of the state. Mothers and sisters have the biggest role in making Uttarakhand a leading state,&rdquo; he stated.
Sharing the state&rsquo;s development milestones, he noted, &ldquo;As a result of these efforts, our state has reached the first position in the country in achieving the goals of sustainable development in the SDG Index Report of NITI Aayog.&rdquo;
He highlighted job creation and legal reforms. &ldquo;We have emerged as a leading state in providing employment to the youth. We have succeeded in bringing down the unemployment rate by a record 4.4 per cent in a year, which is more than the national average.&rdquo;
He also mentioned preserving Uttarakhand&rsquo;s cultural and demographic integrity. &ldquo;Along with development works, our government is also fully committed to preserving the cultural values and demography of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.&rdquo;
He concluded by outlining recent legal reforms. &ldquo;Not only this, on one hand, by implementing the Uniform Civil Code law in the state, we have taken a strong step towards building a harmonious society. By strict anti-copy law, we have broken the backbone of the copy mafia, as a result of which today more than 23 thousand youth of the state have got government jobs.&rdquo;
&ldquo;We are working under the 'zero tolerance' policy to eradicate the root of corruption. As a result of this, in the last three years, we have sent more than 200 people involved in corruption behind the bars of the jail,&rdquo; he added.
