Tent Collapse at Bageshwar Dham: One Dead, Four Injured

Chhatarpur, Jul 3 (PTI) A tragic incident unfolded at the Bageshwar Dham premises in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district when a tent collapsed due to heavy rain, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to four others, police said. The collapse occurred around 7:30 am as devotees sought shelter from the downpour in Garha village, located 28 kilometers from the district headquarters, according to Ashutosh Shroti, the in-charge of the Bamitha police station.

The incident was attributed to torrential rainfall, leaving one casualty and four people injured, Shroti stated. Two of the injured individuals were taken to a health facility in Chhatarpur, where their condition was reported to be stable. The remaining two victims sustained minor injuries.

Rajesh Kaushal, hailing from Chauri Sikandarpur in Uttar Pradesh's Basti district, informed PTI that his father-in-law, Shyamlal Kaushal, aged 50, succumbed to injuries after being struck on the head by a metal frame from the tent. He recounted how six family members traveled to Bageshwar Dham by car on Wednesday night to seek blessings from Bageshwar Dham seer, Dhirendra Shastri, in anticipation of the seer's upcoming birthday on Friday.

The family reportedly arrived at the venue at approximately 7:30 am on Thursday to meet the seer.
