Chennai, July 1 (PTI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin condemned the custodial death of 29-year-old Ajithkumar from Sivaganga, describing it as "unjustifiable" and asserting that no one should endure such a tragedy. The Chief Minister assured the bereaved family of the government's full support in a statement on 'X.' During a phone conversation with Ajithkumar's mother, Stalin expressed his condolences and encouraged her to remain strong. "I am very sorry. I have instructed the authorities to take serious action. Stay strong," he conveyed to her. Stalin also shared a video of his phone call with the victim's family on his 'X' handle. In a discussion with Ajithkumar's brother, the Chief Minister emphasized the swift actions taken, which included the arrest of five policemen, the suspension of a Deputy Superintendent of Police, and placing a Superintendent of Police under compulsory wait. "We will ensure due punishment," he assured in the shared video. In his accompanying message, Stalin stated, "The cruelty faced by the Tiruppuvanam youth is unforgivable; it's an unjustifiable mistake.
