Randeep Singh Surjewala Dismisses Karnataka Congress Leadership Change Rumors

Bengaluru: On Tuesday, Randeep Singh Surjewala, the AICC General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge, dismissed speculations about any discussions on leadership change within the state Congress unit. This statement comes amid internal conflicts concerning the leadership issue. Surjewala clarified during a press conference that, while he has been engaging with MLAs and MPs, it was to assess the work accomplished within their constituencies, rather than garner opinions on leadership dynamics.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who also serves as the Karnataka State Congress president, Surjewala elaborated on his meeting with MLAs, MPs, MLCs, and party candidates who participated in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections. "We are evaluating the contributions of our MLAs and MPs to better understand their achievements in their constituencies," he indicated, emphasizing the importance of reviewing their performance and the status of the five guarantees implementation, which includes initiatives like free bus travel for women.

Regarding complaints from some Congress MLAs about the lack of development in their areas, Surjewala reassured that the government has adequate funds allocated for Karnataka's development. He refuted these claims, describing them as a "bogey" raised by the BJP, asserting that the BJP's objective is to halt the guarantees. "Certain BJP leaders, including R Ashoka and Vijayendra, are attempting to obstruct the five guarantees," Surjewala alleged. "They aim to prevent Rs 58,000 crore from being disbursed to Kannadigas transparently," he asserted.
