Surat murder case: teen girl who was stabbed 25 times by her dad was trying to save her mother

As more details on the shocking murder of a girl in Gujarat's Surat come to the fore, reports now say that the deceased girl who was stabbed by her father at least 25 times was trying to save her mother along with her three brothers who were also injured in the attack.

The accused Ramanuja Sahoo on May 18 had a heated argument with his wife Rekha over his 19-year-old daughter’s plan to sleep on the terrace. The family lives in a rented apartment in the Kadodara area.

Sahoo, who is a textile mill worker, in a fit of rage attacked his wife with a knife and stabbed her at least 10 times. As his four children, which includes the deceased girl and her three brothers came to the rescue of their mother; Sahoo charged at the teen girl and stabbed her at least 25 times. Reports said she died on the spot, while her injured mother was shifted to a hospital where she is recuperating.

Sahoo was arrested after a complaint was filed against him two days after the murder.
