Section 144 has been imposed in Shivamogga after a mob pelted stones at houses and vehicles following the attack on a religious procession.

Prohibitory orders under IPC section 144 have been imposed in the Ragi Gudda area of Karnataka's Shivamogga following communal tensions on Sunday.

The clashes broke out after a group of people started pelting stones at a religious procession.

In response, some youths hurled stones at nearby houses and vehicles. At least four people were injured in the incident.

The police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the mob. They said that some people have been taken into custody.
