Chennai, Sep 4 (PTI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin engaged in discussions with UK Foreign Office Minister for Indo-Pacific, Catherine West, to explore collaborative opportunities in the green economy, education, research, skills development, and maritime connectivity.

During his visit to the UK aimed at attracting investments to Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Stalin emphasized the significance of joint efforts to nurture a sustainable and future-ready economy. “In London, I met UK Minister Catherine West to deepen the TN–UK partnership,” Stalin announced in a post on the social media platform, ‘X’.

He elaborated on the discussions, noting the focus areas such as the green economy, education, research, skilling, and maritime connectivity. Stalin highlighted Tamil Nadu's strengths in renewables, e-mobility, IT, and manufacturing, inviting deeper collaboration from the UK to foster growth in these sectors.

On September 3, Stalin remarked that agreements with companies like Wilson Power and Britannia RFID would enhance Tamil Nadu's renewable energy landscape and bolster the competitiveness of exporters from the state's western regions.

He also mentioned partnerships with the University of Exeter and Ecole Intuit Lab, which aim to equip the youth with specialized capabilities. Additionally, Lloyd’s List Intelligence is expected to support Tamil Nadu’s initiatives in the shipping and maritime sectors.

Stalin noted the significant engagement with Rolls-Royce, expressing hope that Tamil Nadu's robust manufacturing sector would complement Rolls-Royce's influential presence in aerospace and defense.
