The government plans to introduce retail stores operated by the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) at 15-20 high-traffic metro stations this month, offering these items at subsidized rates, as per The Economic Times.

NCCF had earlier collaborated with e-commerce platform magicpin to sell groceries, including onions and pulses, at reduced prices through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This partnership came after a successful stint where tomatoes were sold at Rs 70 per kilogram when market prices soared above Rs 100.

Currently, NCCF is retailing onions at a subsidized rate of Rs 25 per kilogram in Delhi, with plans to extend this subsidy to other states beyond the Delhi-NCR region, aiming to cover all states from Jammu and Kashmir to Kerala, as per a recent statement by NCCF.
