Sikkim CM Thanks Public for SKM's Landslide Assembly Win

Gangtok, Jun 2 (PTI) Sikkim Chief Minister and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) president Prem Singh Tamang expressed his gratitude to the people of the Himalayan state for re-electing his party with a decisive mandate last year.

The SKM secured a substantial victory in the state Assembly elections, winning 31 out of 32 seats. The results, announced on June 2, 2024, marked the party's second consecutive term in power.

The opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) was left with no representation after its lone MLA, Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, joined the SKM last year.

In a social media post, Tamang reflected on the significance of last year's mandate, noting it was a demonstration of the trust placed in the SKM by the people of Sikkim.

He highlighted the remarkable progress the state government has made over the past year and expressed his deep gratitude to the populace for their continued support.

Remarking on a dual milestone, the Chief Minister noted that SKM's continued governance into its sixth year coincides with Sikkim's 50th year of statehood, making the achievements even more meaningful.

Tamang credited the dedication and hard work of both party members and government officials for the significant developments achieved in the state. He called on them to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year.

"I thank you all for your perseverance, unity, and steadfast commitment. Your efforts have led to positive changes across every sector," said Tamang.

The SKM leader encouraged continued unity and commitment as they pursue the vision of a prosperous and strong Sikkim through the initiatives of 'Sunaulo Sikkim,' 'Samriddha Sikkim,' and 'Saamarth Sikkim.'
