Woman Shot by Assailant in Kolkata Haridevpur; Condition Critical

Kolkata, Nov 3 (PTI): A disturbing incident unfolded in the Haridevpur area of southern Kolkata early Monday morning when a woman was shot by an assailant. According to police reports, the victim, identified as 37-year-old Mousumi Halder, was immediately rushed to the nearby MR Bangur Hospital for medical treatment. Her condition is reported to be critical. Authorities have confirmed that the attacker managed to flee the scene initially but was later detained by the police for questioning. As per a police officer from the Haridevpur Police Station, the shooting occurred around 6:20 am on Kalipada Mukherjee Road, with the woman sustaining a bullet injury to her back. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the incident. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the motive behind the attack was a personal issue between the assailant and the victim. Following initial treatment, Mousumi Halder was transferred to the state-run SSKM Hospital for further medical care.
