Shivpal Yadav Criticizes BJP's Vision 2047 in UP Assembly

Lucknow, Aug 13 (PTI) Senior leader of the Samajwadi Party, Shivpal Yadav, strongly criticized the BJP government for introducing what he described as a "fictional Vision 2047" in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He accused the government of neglecting current issues while promoting future aspirations.

Yadav's comments were made ahead of a special overnight session during the ongoing Monsoon session where the state assembly was set to discuss the Vision 2047 document. In a Hindi post on X, Yadav claimed that the government lacked solutions for contemporary problems and was instead acting as "a trader of tomorrow's dreams."

He highlighted the BJP’s unfulfilled promise of doubling farmers' income by 2022, stating that by 2025, farmers are forced to sell their produce at half the price. Yet, the party continues to project dreams of prosperity in 2047. Yadav called this a "Kisan Credit Bluff" rather than a genuine Kisan Credit Card.

The SP leader ridiculed the BJP’s vision of employment in 2047, suggesting that, according to their timeline, the unemployed of today would be entering the workforce as elderly individuals 22 years from now. He also criticized the vision for digital hospitals by 2047, pointing out that in 2025, hospitals lack even basic facilities like stretchers, forcing patients to rely on saline drips hung from trees.

Commenting on crime, Yadav stated that while the BJP claims criminal activities will be eradicated by 2047, in 2025 criminals are allegedly receiving guard-of-honour treatment. He described the BJP's "Amrit Kaal" as actually being an "Apradh Kaal" or era of crime.

Furthermore, Yadav mocked the promise of smart classrooms by 2047, noting that in 2025, children are still seated on broken benches. "This is not a smart classroom but a start-stop-start classroom," he observed.

The Jaswantnagar MLA accused the BJP of redefining development by attaching its name to projects originally initiated by the Samajwadi Party and taking credit through photographs. He targeted the claim of eradicating poverty by 2047, stating that it appears to be a "long-term plan to keep the poor hungry."

Yadav described Vision 2047 as a political instalment scheme, where a fresh dream is marketed before every election while past promises are neglected each year. He urged, "Don't sell dreams of 2047, give an account of the reality of 2025. The people now demand justice today, not slogans for the future."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced on Monday that the four-day Monsoon session would include a 24-hour discussion on "Vision 2047 - Viksit UP". This plan, developed with expert contributions, aims for a developed, self-reliant state by 2047, aligning with India's national goals.
