Shiv Sena and MNS Unite for 'Marathi Vijay Diwas' Rally in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jul 1 (PTI) Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS have jointly announced a public rally in Mumbai on July 5 to celebrate "Marathi Vijay Diwas." This rally follows the state government’s decision to retract its order regarding the three-language policy in schools.

This joint initiative, named 'Marathicha Awaaz', marks the first official notice of the event. Notably, no party symbols or flags are displayed, only a graphic of the state with hosts' names, Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray, included.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut confirmed that both Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray will grace the rally, marking their first shared political appearance in almost two decades.

The state cabinet on Sunday, facing considerable opposition against introducing Hindi from classes 1 to 5, decided to repeal two government orders related to the three-language policy.

Post-announcement, the MNS led by Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) cancelled their planned protest march for July 5 against the government orders.

However, Uddhav Thackeray announced an alternative programme to be held on July 5, celebrating the “unity of the Marathi manoos.”

The joint invitation addresses "Marathi sisters and brothers," portraying the rally as a celebration of Marathi pride and unity. The invitation message exclaims, "Did we make the government bow down? Yes! This celebration will be yours and we were merely fighting on behalf of you."

The rally is set to begin at 10 am on July 5 at the NSCI Dome in Worli.

The reunion of Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray on a singular platform is anticipated to exhibit regional pride and strength, especially amid talks about potential collaboration between their parties for the upcoming civic polls.

Intensive preparations are underway with senior leaders from both sides partaking in the arrangements.

Key figures like Sanjay Raut, Anil Parab, and Varun Sardesai from Shiv Sena (UBT) and Bala Nandgaonkar, Abhijit Panse, Sandeep Deshpande, and Nitin Sardesai from MNS are leading organizational efforts.
