Shiv Sena (UBT) Open to Reconciliation with MNS Amid Alliance Talks

Mumbai, Jun 10 (PTI) The Shiv Sena (UBT) has expressed its willingness to either move forward or take a step back, devoid of any political ego, as stated by party MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday amid talks of a rapprochement between his party and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

The Sena (UBT), under the leadership of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, is committed to doing whatever is necessary for the welfare of Maharashtra, the "Marathi manoos" (Marathi-speaking people), and to reaffirm their claim on Mumbai, according to Raut.

"We are ready to take a step ahead or back. There is no political ego in it," remarked the Rajya Sabha member.

Recent statements by estranged cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have fueled speculation about a potential reconciliation, suggesting they might overlook "trivial issues" and collaborate nearly two decades after their fallout.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray indicated that uniting for the cause of the "Marathi manoos" is not a challenging task, while Uddhav emphasized his readiness to set aside minor disputes, as long as it does not accommodate those acting against Maharashtra's interests.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray mentioned on Monday that his party is open to forming an alliance with any group that aims to work for Mumbai, Maharashtra, and Marathi speakers, provided they have "a clean heart and mind."

Responding to inquiries about the speculation of a Sena (UBT) and MNS alliance, Aaditya Thackeray suggested nothing concrete was underway, and discussions had not progressed beyond media reports.

"Discussions are only in the media. As of now, someone has given a call (for alliance) and we have responded. People will see when the next steps are taken," stated the former state minister.

"We are ready to join hands with those who are ready to fight for Marathi-speaking people, Mumbai, and Maharashtra with a clean heart and mind. Uddhavji has already said whatever people want will happen," added the opposition MLA.
