Security breach during Jaishankar's UK visit

During a recent visit to the United Kingdom by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, a significant security breach occurred, sparking a response from India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The incident took place outside Chatham House in London when a pro-Khalistan protestor attempted to obstruct Jaishankar's convoy.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed India's concerns, noting that the breach highlighted both the freedom afforded to such protest groups and an apparent indifference to their attempts to intimidate and disrupt legitimate diplomatic activities.

Jaiswal emphasized that India had communicated its "deep concern" to UK authorities and suggested there was a wider context to the incident.

The UK Foreign Office issued a statement condemning the security breach, labeling any efforts to intimidate or disrupt public events as "completely unacceptable." However, Jaiswal indicated that India's assessment of the UK's sincerity would be based on the actions taken against those responsible for this and similar past incidents.

A video circulating on social media platform X allegedly shows a man rushing towards Jaishankar's vehicle brandishing the tricolour, amid a group of protesters waving pro-Khalistan flags and chanting slogans. Police at the scene intervened to prevent the man from reaching the convoy.
