Romantic stunt on speeding scooter lands couple in trouble with cops

Mumbai Traffic Police has been asked to take action against a couple caught on camera facing each other and snuggling up on a speeding two-wheeler.

The video shows the two passengers on a scooter, without a helmet, tightly embracing each other under a shawl. The post shared by Bandra Buzz on X, formerly Twitter, has gone viral and drew massive flak from social media users, with many calling for strict action against the couple.

"This daring duo was spotted at Bandra Reclamation, turning heads with their unconventional scooter ride. @MumbaiPolice we kindly request your attention to ensure everyone's safety on the roads," the caption read.

"This is not DARING, it's stupidity at its best," said a user, replying to the post.

"It is dangerous for all on road... it should be condemned," read another reply.

A third post read, "Just gaining attention through this, they know it will be on such platforms and will be tagged to police and it will be actioned too."

Social media users also tagged the Mumbai Police asking, "What action has been taken against the love birds?"

Some others came to the couple's defence, questioning what they called "Twitter moral policing."

Stunts in public areas, especially city roads and highways, often gain traction on social media, encouraging many more to attempt such hazardous acts. From throwing money out of cars to hanging out of the sunroof, several bizarre incidents have been reported from different parts of the country. Recently there have been increasing instances of young couples engaging in romance on speeding two-wheelers.

When brought to police attention, strict action has been taken against such offenders, under road safety rules. In cities like Delhi and Mumbai, police have been prompt in registering cases, often resulting in arrests. Such stunts not only puts the culprits' own safety at risk, but also of the public at large.
