Ratan Tata reveals mission in 'last years' of life, at Assam event with PM Modi on cancer care centres

Industrialist Ratan Tata accompanied Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration of 7 cancer care centres in Assam. At the event on April 28, the chairman of Tata Trusts revealed his mission in the last years of his life. Ratan Tata also addressed the gathering in Hindi, despite not being fluent in the language.

The cancer care centres are being set up by Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF), a joint venture of the state government and Tata Trusts.

Tata said, "I can't make a speech in Hindi, so I shall try to communicate with all of you in English. The message will be the same. It will be from my heart. Today is a very important day in the history of the state of Assam. It is a day that raises Assam to a higher level in terms of healthcare and treatment of cancer that has not been experienced by the other states in the country."

Then Tata spoke in Hindi, "I shall not bore you with more statements. I shall just say that today is an important day for Assam. Today, Assam can tell the world that a small state has world-class cancer treatment centres. I thank the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and PM Modi's government. I dedicate my last years to help make Assam a state that recognises, and is recognised by all."
